This week, we begin our culinary tour of Russia, and we get our first true sample of epic poetry, or more accurately, Russian byliny! Our main course is a collection of byliny centering on the bogatyr Dobrynya, a heroic and noble knight, who rides across the country looking for people in need of assistance, heroism, and hope. For dessert, we take on the hero’s journey, which leads us to some fun and fascinating contemporary connections.
