We did it, the Pinhole Podcast has made it to double digits! To celebrate the pinhole crew does the thing they do best, talk lensless photography.

For episode 10, we had the honor of interviewing Kelly Angood from the Pop-Up Pinhole Company. Kelly made waves within photography circles and the social media circuit with her beautifully designed cardboard Pinhole Hasselblad. Since then she has taken leveraged her design expertise and love for cardboard creations and launched her own pinhole company.

Season’s greetings from the Pinhole Podcast team!

For Episode 9, we got together to talk about shooting pinhole in the winter. The darker days and chilly temperatures are definitely challenging, as Shelly learned the hard way on a recent trip, but we offer useful tips and suggestions to encourage you (and her) to keep shooting.

In the second half of our episode we discuss our recent Pinhole Contest. We were totally blown away at the technique and creativity of the work that was submitted! We chatted about our decision-making process (it was NOT easy) before finally announcing our contest winner. Telling you in the notes? No way, that’s too easy - you’ll have to listen to find out!

With the holidays approaching, Herschel, Alex and Jana got together to discuss useful gifts for the pinhole photographer and offer a few personal revelations for the season.

It all begins with a discussion of gifts we’d like to receive this year. Jana hopes for the perfect, travel-friendly tripod, Herschel makes a wish for a Zero Image 4x5 camera and Alex welcomes any listeners to send the Supersense 66/6 Pinhole Instant Camera his way.

The conversation then turns to gifts for those new to pinhole photography which of course generates some lively banter and useful suggestions. While Alex and Jana consider 35mm pinhole cameras like the Viddy or ONDU 35mm a good start, Herschel does one better and offers the gift of building a custom pinhole camera and developing the first prints.

Our thoughtful discussion continues on to topics such as the revival of film, converting Polaroid CB-70 (or CB-72) into instant pinhole cameras, eBay sob stories and Herschel’s use of The Force to meter exposures. It’s Episode 5 of the Pinhole Podcast! We took a break from talking about ourselves (and notebooks and cable releases and stuff) and had a chat about some of our pinhole heroes.

What is a pinhole hero, you ask? We had lots of opinions (surprise), but pretty much agreed that a hero is someone who inspires us. They really know how to use their cameras and are always learning new ways to see with them. Some construct their own cameras out of the most amazing materials, or hack a wide variety of other cameras to shoot pinhole. In short, they embody everything that is good and awesome about pinhole.
