Pint Notes episodes

  • Pint Notes #55: Canon No 3: We The Common and Sierra Nevada
It’s time for Rebecca Ruiz and Josh Wodarz to dive deep into the tastes that created their musical and beerical palette. Yes, it’s another canon show. They take a close look at the 2013 album We the Common by Thao and the Get Down Stay Down, and talk about it’s funky groove, and simple, but effective poetry.
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is a long standing classic American Pale Ale, one that even set the scene for craft brews to come later. The beer is also simple, but effective, and brings a smile to the cohosts.

  • Pint Notes #48: A Whole New Name… Sorta
Hey, everyone, it’s the 47th episode of Pint Notes. That’s right. Pint Notes. After two years, we’re changing the official name to match our social media handles. It’s kind of like when Josh was 8 and decided he didn’t want people to call him Joshua anymore, only Josh. It’s the same seedy basement bar, the same Joshua Wodarz and Rebecca Ruiz. As always different music – this week they look at The xx, Allison Crutchfield, and Ron Gallo.
Oh, and a new logo by the talented Zoe Wodarz.

  • Pint Notes #46: The Albums That Got Us in 2016
Yep, its that time of year again. Everybody’s got their best of-lists for 2016, and we’ve got ours. But it’s not really a best of list. Here at Half-Pints, Whole-Notes, we realize that everyone else is writing about the same albums and declaring what is the “best” from a critical, artistic, and sometimes commercial viewpoint.
That’s not what we do, we talk about the albums that we loved. That we sort of couldn’t live without. Sure, Radiohead’s album was masterfully done and another artistic work of wonder from them, but guess what? One of our hosts rated it well, said it was really, really well done, and then never listened to it again, because it just didn’t grab him. Not like the albums in this show did.
So, what was supposed to be 12 albums from each host, sort of becomes 13 albums from each host, and there you go. Don’t forget to listen to our playlist, where we try and distill the essence of each album into one track.
