The Beatitudes are a series of eight qualities that Jesus calls blessed.  Blessed - happy, fortunate, to be envied!  Let's start with "Blessed are the poor in spirit" and see what He is saying to us yet today.

Matthew 4 is the story of Jesus beginning His ministry, calling His disciples (that usually was not the way it went!), and eye witness accounts of miraculous healings.

In Matthew 4, the Holy Spirit leads Jesus into the wilderness for a cage match with the devil. (Sorry, I had boys who were into WWE). Jesus slams him to the mat two times, then throws him out of the ring on the third.  And what's even better, is He left us examples on how to defeat our worst enemy.

Matthew 3 is all about the life and ministry of John the Baptist.  Matthew Henry sums up John's life as, "To be anything.  To be nothing.  So Christ may be all."

Herod thought he was the real king but God ordained who the ACTUAL King would be.

The Christmas story is not just for Christmas, but has valuable lessons for us all year long. We will see that Joseph was quite a guy!

The Gospel of Matthew is such an exciting book.  If you usually skip the genealogy in Chapter 1, you are missing some great insights into the grace of Almighty God!
