  • Season 2: Episode 15 - Nostalgia Brewing Company

    This week I received the results to my DNA test and I reveal to the world where my ancestors hailed from. I also recap my weekend trip to Columbus. I talk about riding an electric scooter while semi intoxicated, as well as a chugging contest between myself and this week's guest that took place at a certain brewery that was born in Scotland, but summers in Ohio.

    During the interview this week I talk to Shawn White, who is the owner of Nostalgia Brewing Company in Gahanna, Ohio. We discuss how his previous Craft beer blog site led him to owning a brewing in a very quaint little suburb of Columbus.

    This week Bird returns and we talk about Hazy's, Dessert Stouts, and the best and worst craft beer cities in the country.

    In this weeks interview I sit down with Adam Longacre and Garret Conley from Unhitched Brewing Company. We talked about how Unhitched was born from an idea that the community of Louisville, Ohio needed a gathering place that served great beer and delicious food. Adam told me about the history of the building they are currently in and how opening a brewery also spurred a couple other businesses within the community. The head brewer Garret Conley discussed his love of Saisons and Lagers. He took us on a very informative deep dive of knowledge gathering while discussing his creations.

  • Season 2: Episode 13 - Olentangy River Brewing Company

    We return after a week off. In this episode I talk about the great beer journey we took in Indianapolis. The beer was amazing, the food was fantastic and the people were very friendly. I look forward to returning to Indianapolis again in the near future. In the news I talk about how excited I am for the return of BrewDog's Annual General Mayhem festival, better known as AGM. I also touch on the Australian hop harvest as well as the explosion of can beer sales in 2020.

    In this week's interview I traveled to Olentangy River Brewing Company to discuss how things are going in the central part of Ohio. We sampled some fantastic beer and talked about the growth and development in the northern part of Columbus, and how it has impacted the craft beer industry. We also got into how the combination of a coffee roaster and craft brewery has been very successful for ORBC overall.

  • Season 2: Episode 12 - Blue Monkey Brewing Company

    In this weeks episode I talk about the amazing stouts I was able to drink on Saturday night. I also discuss my upcoming Indianapolis extended weekend beer getaway. I ask for suggestions for my upcoming October trip to Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois.

    In the news I discuss how all states are now allowing dining and most have allowed bars to re-open. I mention the new SBA website to help those in the restaurant and brewery business get back on their feet, and I mention the top 12 beers in the UK. Later I reveal one of the weirdest dreams I have ever had.

    In the interview segment I sit down with Rick Sacha and Jimmy Mackay to discuss everything going on at Blue Monkey Brewing Company. Located in North Royalton, this merry band of good natured individuals pulled off something never before accomplished in this southern suburb of Cleveland, they opened up a brewery. They are pretty diverse with their eight beers on tap, and they are brewing up some pretty good stuff if I do say so myself.

  • Season 2: Episode 11 - Hoodletown Brewing Company

    In this episode Bird and I discuss why people are so hell bent on being know it all craft beer aficionados on Facebook. We talk about the damage that can be done to small independent breweries when people attempt to eviscerate them on social media. In the news we discuss new taxation laws, The Summit and Medina county brew paths, as well as the growth being seen once again in the craft beer market.

    In the interview I am joined by the team from Hoodletown Brewing in Dover, Ohio. In the interview we learn that Hoodletown was an idea formed by the owners to bring together the community at a local establishment that provided craft beer and eventually food service. Eric Kinsey and Mike Poland, the owners, discuss how they developed a love for home brewing that quickly led to them seeking to open up a brewery. After bringing in 12 year homebrewer Mike Swartzwelder to be their head brewer, and almost two years of renovation, Hoodletown Brewing opened on September 1, 2018 and has been going strong, even through the pandemic.

  • Season 2: Episode 10 - North Water Brewing

    In this episode I talk about Covid screwing up my beercation plans for October. Never fear though as I was able to turn lemons into lemonade. I also talk once again about how crappy people are in craft beer Facebook pages, and I discuss a ridiculously dumb law proposed in West Virginia that would raise the excise tax 431%. During the interview I sat down with Don Schjeldahl from North Water Brewing Company and we discuss how being a consultant that had an impeccable sense of choosing the right locations for certain businesses led him to an encounter with Ken Grossman, aka the brain trust behind Sierra Nevada Brewing. Later he used the knowledge he gained working with Sierra Nevada to plan and open a 7bbl brewery in Kent, Ohio.

  • Season 2: Episode 9 - MadCap Brewing Company

    In this episode I discuss the nightmares of being a home owner. Meanwhile in the news I discuss the Brewers Associations Top 50 Breweries list that was recently released. This list is based on production and sales volume. I notated a few interesting points before moving on to the interview segment.

    During the interview I sat down with Ryan Holmes from MadCap Brewing Company and we discussed everything from their modest start in a small barn in Stow to moving to a very large facility in Kent. We also discuss how Covid affected them and what folks can expect from MadCap in 2021. Here's a hint, it involves my other favorite thing, food. We also nerd out a little when discussing some of the recipes as well.
