The first ever Holland Days is planned for Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25. Many communities in the area have summer celebrations and Nicole Buffington, speaking on behalf of the Holland Days Committee, said a group of community members decided Holland should too. FARGO, N.D. — Pipestone Area Schools’ soon-to-be junior wrestler Miklo Hernandez is once again an All-American. Hernandez finished sixth overall — with a field of more than 100 wrestlers — in the junior freestyle 132-pound weight class bracket at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals. “I think Miklo performed well,” PAS head wrestling coach Paul Young said. “He was finding his shots, and his go-behinds. ORLANDO, Fla. — Soon-to-be Elkton-Lake Benton sophomore Quinn Slegers can call herself an All-American. This was based on her performance at the Amateur Athletic Union girls volleyball national championships at the Orange County Convention Center on Wednesday, July 1. Slegers was a member of the Avera Health Kairos 15 White squad. WORTHINGTON — The Pipestone Athletics and Worthington Cubs were locked in a pitcher’s dual Sunday, July 12 in Gopher League action. Unfortunately for Pipestone, the team found itself on the business end of a 1-0 loss at Trojan Field. The Pipestone County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Board of Supervisors during its July 9 meeting approved eight grant contracts totaling 1,730 to help Pipestone County farmers purchase soil health equipment. It was the first time the SWCD has offered such grants. SWCD Board members voted during their April meeting to offer the grants using 0,000 in project fund dollars from the state. MASON, Mich. — For the second straight year, Southwest Minnesota Christian trap shooter Riley Williams competed on the national stage.
