Another season of NFL football has come and gone. It will be one that won't soon be forgot. One of the most drunken and chaotic campaigns witnessed by human eyes. I think there will be plenty more of this in the future, but for now, we simply attempt to rest... briefly. the NFL Playoffs and its relentless gauntlet will soon be upon us. The only respite will come from clutching Lombardi once and for all. Otherwise, this is week eighteen. There wasn't much to play for, but what was? It would be fights to the death... sometimes self-inflicted death. Let's get to it.

Chaos. Beautiful chaos (although in some team's cases, they'd prefer that not to be the case). This year has been on all of the drugs, and that may not be an accurate enough description. As Sportsball slowly boils me alive, the NFL Season is nearing its end (thankfully for any potential NHL/MLB content). We have one more week to go, and while a majority of the divisions and playoff spots are secured, there are a handful left to decide. Pain. Misery. Jubilation. Anguish. Euphoria. Relief. All of those emotions and more in Week Seventeen.Also feels. The last ride of Philip Rivers' comeback tour. What a legendary ride, even if it was only for a few weeks.

The Football Gods apparently wished for endless chaos for Christmas and we ended up with a week of pure insanity as a result. A Game of the Week contender on Thursday (made an episode about it over the weekend). A sudden surge to swipe a game away two days later. And then Steelers/Lions. At least the final two minutes. Good lord. Some teams have all the luck. Some of us get to bask in the blessings of the pigskin. And some of us slowly die from having to try and decipher whatever the hell's going on. Then another dedicated sect is praying to the altar of a fickle goddess: The glorious tank. Next week will bring us a showdown of suck not seen for a while.But this week in sportsball has offered us a plentiful bounty. Let's dig in and try our damndest to sift through the explosion of football that occurred.

It's been a bit since I've done one of these for the NFL. The year's just been so bonkers and drunk that it's hard to keep afloat with everything going on. Then you get games like the one on Thursday night: An NFC West showdown that was hyped as a heavyweight bout. It took until the fourth quarter, but after that, it certainly didn't disappoint (unless you're a Rams fan). It had everything: Chokes, comebacks, redemption arcs, two-point conversions resulting in unbelievable controversy, and overtime finishes to the death. This game is another contender for game of the year (there have been plenty of them, to be fair), but this needed a deeper dive.If anything, because of everything involving Puka Nacua. That was something, wasn't it?

The fabric of the NFL has changed dramatically over the past week. Injuries have devastated several franchise this week (including a team that was knocked out of the playoffs), and several blowouts have all but solidified a few tickets to January. We finally have a couple of teams that have clinched. Thank the lord for that. Only five teams left to be eliminated, three weeks left in the season. Buckle up. 9-8 Super Bowl will arrive whether you like it or not.

It's so easy to forget how recently we were given the gift of an onscreen scorebug from the gods. allow us to look back to see where we have come from in such a short amount of time.

We're so far into the season yet we still know so little about anybody at this point. Any trends are near-immediately quashed from week-to-week. Players, teams, even entire divisions a maddening pool of inconsistency. Every team sucks and nobody's any good. All we get is chaos. Unpredictability. Confusion and calamity. Week Fourteen, like many others, was full of... things. Many, many things. And a lot of them were very unsightly, but there were some fun matchups by the end. Maybe a handful, but the rest? Yeah.Prepare to be (not so) shocked by the revelations on display. Although we all were with Philip Rivers. Really, he's coming back? It oddly tracks for this season.

The rebuilding, the tanking, the brutal disappointments (there were many), and the Rockies. All of them have a story to tell.
