It's another double bill as Charles takes on our first ever requests with two films of incredibly weird proportions. From a normal man dealing with the supreme strangeness of Jake Gyllenhaal doing *the most* to a coalition of witches taking down capitalism and climate change, there's something for everything in these film versions of Queen's "I'm Going Slightly Mad" and Brian Eno's "Baby's On Fire". Tansy is here to pitch her Mad Max take on Kelis' early 2000s banger "Milkshake". When the boys go to the Yard, society crumbles into an apocalyptic wasteland full of women. But when one lactose intolerant boy manages to escape the Yard, he must recruit the two greatest warriors in the wasteland - Lizzo and Charli XCX - to liberate the rest of the boys. But what is the Milkshake really made of, and why does it really bring all the boys to the Yard?

Plus an unexpected discussion of Eragon, a roving band of sisters (literally) and more boys than you could poke a stick at.

I used to think life was a tragedy... but it turns out it's much worse.

Charles is going above and beyond to pitch a film that is not just an adaption of Alec Benjamin's twisty pop song "If I Killed Someone For You", but also a punch up of Joker (dir. Todd Phillips, 2019). Moderately successful comedian Richard (Bill Hader) decides to change up his career by trying murder, but when everyone mistakes his genuine attempts at homicide as a new bit, he rockets to comedy stardom (and murder ineptitude).

Plus the sick and twisted origin of this podcast, Tansy's disbelief at every single plot element of Joker, and our undying love of Demi Lardner.

In a special Halloween episode, Tansy is pitching her take on Warren Zevon's infectiously funny Werewolves of London, which of course is just like The Departed, but with werewolves. Constable Rachel Warren thinks her life is over when she'd bitten on the job, but when she's reassigned to infiltrate the werewolf gangs, her real life begins.

Charles is here to pitch a creature feature set in Antarctica based on Sean Paul's 2005 earworm Temperature. When a group of scientists settle in to an Antarctic research station for the winter, the last thing they expect is a knock at their door. It's The Thing meets Life with an extra helping of self aware Ryan Reynolds.

Plus, a story about a woman who has a seizure every time she hears Sean Paul's music, and Tansy insisting that if science achieved human cloning, they would immediately use it to create hundreds of enslaved Frank Grillos.

It was bound to happen eventually, and eventually is now - renowned animation nerd Tansy is pitching an animated fantasy adventure based on Florence + the Machine's Sky Full of Song. Blackstone Island is a magical nation protected by prickly sorceress Phoebe, who must train feral pirate girl Max as her replacement before an invasion dooms the entire island. It's an odd couple comedy that pairs a heartfelt Disney coming of age tale with anti-colonial communism, and the overt witchiness of Florence Welch.

A movie about Hollywood? Groundbreaking.

It's Tansy's turn to pitch this week, and she has poached Charles' favourite curly haired band boys and turned The 1975's Give Yourself A Try into a weird LA indie comedy drama about a child actor with no sense of identity and her writer friend who's one break away from success.

A writer? Writing about a writer? Groundbreaking.

There's also unsuccessful alcoholism, a lot of New Zealand cultural references, a dog named Tupac and an unexpected Bruce Springsteen cameo. What a fuckin rollercoaster. This pitch has too much plot.
