Andrew Kummerer is currently the Director of Youth Soccer at FC Delco and the Owner/Camp Director for Star Soccer Academy. Andrew is also a former Boys High School coach at Malvern Prep and Men’s Assistant Coach at Elizabethtown where he also played for 4 years gaining bachelors in business administration.
I first met Andrew in 2015 when we were both participants of the USSF C license in Orangeburg NY. In today’s podcast we talk about Andrew’s first introduction into soccer growing up in South East Pennsylvania and his progression up the coaching ladder. We talk about how Andrew’s sound background in business administration has helped him in becoming the owner of Star Soccer Academy and how the use of a mentor has helped him improve as a coach and soccer club director.

June 01, 2020 18. Salma Tarik: International Leader and Role Model
Salma Tarik former Hofstra University D1 and Egyptian national team player. Salma currently the Girls Technical Director at Pro Game United and the Long Island Director of Programs for the Special Olympics. Salma has also coached Men’s and Women’s college soccer as well as being a Middle School Physical Education teacher and former NSCAA 30 under 30 participant.
I first met Salma in 2014 when we both coached Summer Camps and clinics for East Meadow Soccer Club in conjunction with Nassau County Summer Camp program, but I have followed her career from a distance for several years.
Today we talk about the mentality needed to be a D1 Athlete and her role as an International leader. We also talk about Salma’s various roles as a role model and mentor for youth athletes, especially the Female Soccer players on Long Island.

David Ramirez is currently the men’s assistant coach at Queens College NY where he is also studying towards bachelors in Physical Education. David played colligate soccer for Queens College and Nassau Community College as well as club soccer for Oceanside, Long Island United and Hewlett-Lawrence. I first met David when I hired him as a coach for PK Soccer to initially assist me with the Hewlett Lawrence Intramural and travel program.
Today we talk about David’s playing career and transition into playing college soccer. We also talk discuss how studying towards a bachelors in Physical Education has helped him improved as a Coach and enhance his understanding of the youth and young adult soccer player.

Stephanie Savino is currently the Retail Development Director for Major League Soccer and Assistant coach at Asphalt Green Soccer Cub in NYC. Steph is a former women’s college coach with the Pratt institute and dual sport athlete at Siena College where he gained a bachelor’s of science in Marketing. Steph is also gained a USSF C license and Advacned National with the United Soccer Coaches.
I came into contact with Steph via her popular Friday afternoon CoachesWithCoffee Zoom call. I later found out that Steph recently graduated from Ohio University with a master of science in Recreation and Sport Science with a concentration in Soccer Coaching.
Today we will talk about how Steph was able to combine her love of soccer and fashion into a fulltime career and how she has been able to achieve success on and off the field with her continued education and personal growth.

Hristo Kaloferov is a Bulgarian native and the NPL boys Director at East Meadow Soccer Club where he has held several positions in his 8 years with the club. He is also a USSF Licensed coach and graduate of Molly College where he played for 3 years after transferring from St. Johns. I first met Hristo in 2014 where we both participated in the USSF National Youth License in Hicksville NY. I have also assisted him at East Meadow tournaments guest coaching teams in their tournaments and coached together in the clubs Intramural and summer camp programs. Today we talk about Hristos journey from Bulgaria to the US and how learning the English language opened up the door to playing, studying and coaching in New York. Oscar Barrientos is a youth soccer coach and volunteer firefighter from Inwood NY with Guatemalan roots. Oscar is a graduate of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC and holds a USSF D License. As a youth player Oscar represented Lawrence high school as well as Hewlett Lawrence where he won a state championship.
I first met Oscar when I hired him as a trainer for PK Soccer. Essentially to assist me in coaching the intramural program at Hewlett Lawrence where I am the DOC.
In today’s episode we discuss the opportunities Oscar was given to play club soccer, College soccer and the beginning of his youth soccer coaching career. We also talk about how he has helped the Hispanic community in his home town of Inwood NY

Lee Bakewell is the current Technical Director of TSF Academy in Wayne New Jersey. He is also the recipient of USSF A License and United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma. I first met Lee back in 2004 when we both coaches for MLS Camps in Southern California and we have kept in contact ever since. Ben Fosteris currently the Director of Coaching for Larchmont-Mamaroneck Football Club and owner of Foster Soccer in Westchester county New York. I first met Ben in 2006 when we both coached for Noga Soccer and have remained friends ever since. He has over 15 years experience including Westchester Regional Manager for NOGA Soccer. He has also trained many boys and girls travel teams (u-8 to Varsity High School) as well as numerous summer and school holiday camps, after school programs and winter indoor training programs.
