This is a message from Spring Session 2021 with Jason Wavle.
We put Spring Session 2.0 together in early 2021 to answer the question, “What did we learn from the past year? What are we leaving behind and what are we taking with us as we seek to live with and become more like Christ?”
1. What is the hardest thing you’ve ever had to do physically? What made it so tough?
Similarly, can you relate to Jason’s story at all? Have you ever been in a tough situation
and realized that you were being weighed down or burdened with things you shouldn’t
be carrying or didn’t really even need in the first place?
2. Jason referenced that he was trying to find purpose and joy in things that were not of
God. Specifically, he recognized that he had been seeking affirmation from, and was
finding his own personal worth and value from others. When this was stripped away and
brought to light, he felt hollow and empty. He then asks us, “When some of the things that
previously brought you joy and purpose were stripped away, how did it make you feel?
Did God reveal anything to you during this time?” How would you respond to these
3. Jason states, “You might not be where you want to be, but you are certainly not where
you used to be- so thank God for that.” Reflect on this. Have you taken any time to thank
God for the ways you have seen and experienced Him this year? Why or why not?
4. What habits, rhythms, ways of living, or treating others and yourself are you going to leave
behind? Has God revealed any relationships that you need to move on from or work to
improve? What about activities? Are you willing to be honest with yourself and others
5. Who are the people in your life that can help you let go of the old things that are not
giving you life and not helping to make you more like Jesus? Similarly, are there any
people in your life that you can help with this process?
