Plaid Skirts & Basic Black

Our Patrons got it weeks ago and we thought we’d share our (mostly) full conversation with friend of the pod, Carrie King!

Today Marcia and Shannon revisit the late 1900s and reminisce about the original Spirit and Song hymnal from Oregon Catholic Press. We also try to figure out whether we are Skibbidi Ohio or simply just getting old.

It had been three months since we’ve seen and recorded this episode about the Barbie movie and we figured it’s time to share it with you!

We loved this movie and are happy to share our thoughts with you now!

It's a special National Black Catholic Congress episode of PSBB Podcast. We talk to Louis Damani Jones about Dr. Martin Luther King's vision of the Beloved community and its connections to Catholic tradition.

Content Warning: Racism, Racial Trauma, Domestic Violence

Jules Miles returns to the podcast for a wide-ranging discussion on Britt Bennett's masterful novel The Vanishing Half (Riverhead Books, 2020). We discuss identity, race, the complicated reality of "passing," and the importance of fiction to help us understand human experiences outside of our own.
