It feels like this is a lesson we can't learn enough: never re-watch the movies from your childhood that you loved. It was Aaron's turn to learn this lesson once again as he decided that we should watch Blank Check. So buckle up, boppers, as we discuss a movie filled with adults having inappropriate relationships with a child!
This week's episode is a truly special one! Superbad first graced out theater screens in August, ten years ago. So we decided to take a trip back in time to watch the movie that is the ultimate epitome of Aaron and Shred's high school experience. But not only will we be asking if this movie holds up, but we'll also have to ask if it's woke.
This week we're joined once again by friend of the show, James from 12 For A Penny & The Obscure Gentlemen, as he has picked for us to watch one of his all time favorite movies ever: Spider-man 3. He loved it so much when it first came out, but hadn't revisited it in a very long time and decided that he would like to give it the old PZ treatment to find out if the movie he considers to be a modern classic holds up!
Sometimes, an occasion calls for a slight breaking of the rules. And the what would be a comic book legend's 100th birthday is one of those occasions. We're approaching Jack Kirby's 100th birthday, and we decided to honor the man by watching the movie based on one of his most iconic creations: Captain America: The First Avenger! So sit back and strap in boppers, because we're going back to the 1940s to see if this Nazi punching adventure holds up!
Hell has come to earth, or at least it might feel that way since we watched Spawn this week. A movie in which John Leguizamo got to wear a fat suit and eat maggots. A film that may or may not be responsible for putting one of our intrepid hosts to sleep. Which one? You'll just have to listen to find out, boppers!
This week, we're back with a new episode, as promised. Not just a new episode, but the Little Shop of Horrors episode that we promised a couple weeks ago. So, will this movie, in which Steve Martin doesn't have white hair, hold up? Only way to find out is to listen up, boppers!
Alright, boppers, scheduling and unexpected occurrences got in the way this week, but we're not gonna leave you high and dry. Instead, we're going back to revisit some of our older reviews. First up, we have Rocky IV on deck, hailing all the way from episode 9, a review that left us torn straight down the middle. Then, stick around for Conan: The Barbarian, yet another review that left us polarized. Where do you stand on these? Do these reviews asking if those movies hold up hold up? Let us know and join us again next week as we'll be taking a look at Little Shop of Horrors!
We took a trip to the darker side of society, this week, as we watched our first David Lynch film in the history of this podcast: Blue Velvet! So, listen up, boppers and find out if it holds up. Hit play and start listening to an episode so good, it'll make you say, "Daddy wants to fuck!"
What happens when two dogs and a cat jump to a conclusion and decide to try and return home? You get the movie we watched this week: Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. This week, Shred decided that we should revisit this movie from most of our childhoods that none of us actually remembered that much, and what happens next may surprise you!
Jim and Joe of 12 For A Penny continue their visit to our neck of the woods and this time it's Joe's turn to pick the movie that we watched this week, and boy did he pick a doozy: Pootie Tang! A movie that was mired in post production troubles, and was a massive failure somehow managed to go on to being a bit of a cult classic. But the question is, will this movie somehow manage to hold up today? Listen up, boppers, then sine yo pitty on the runny kine!
