Planet FPL - The Fantasy Football Podcast

Clayton joins James for a discussion on the state of refereeing in the Premier League and what can be to do improve standards the many believe have hit an all time low. But is it really that bad?

What does good refereeing look like?

What do we as fans actually want most, is it accuracy or is it something else?

There's discussion on if VAR has actually hindered the quality of our referees and what fans actually want from the use of technology.

And solutions are offered to what should be done to assist referees going forwards, which features discussion on releasing audio, getting refs mic'd up, the Wenger law, decision challenges, removing the 'high bar', and what can be done to make officiating attractive and rewarding.

Suj and James review the weekend of Gameweek 35 and for many Wildcarders it wasn't the success that many had hoped for (so far), particularly with Arsenal's Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka returning well in Arsenal's North London Derby victory that has left James with a sore throat. And it was a strange game that features in the discussion from all the games.

As usual all the games covered including Chelsea's excellent display at Villa that yielded only a point and Manchester City overcame a period of difficulty to maintain their advantage in the race for the title that also left Forest looking nervously over their shoulder at not just Luton, but now Burnley as well.

FPL assets for one week, two weeks and all weeks considered which includes those required for just 36 and 38 which may bring a number of enabling differential forwards to the table that Bench Boosters won't consider. Plus, best Arsenal assets covered, injuries have inevitably struck again and James discusses the awkward feeling for Tottenham fans in Gameweek 37 when Manchester City visit. And it is likely to have Fantasy consequences!

Suj and James review the 6 games played in midweek as Arsenal and Manchester City went big in their pursuit of the title but Liverpool's attempt to keep pace hits the skids in the Merseyside Derby at Everton. Now focus turns from Free Hit 34 to Wildcard 35 with Suj (probably) and James both on Wildcard.

On the Podcast there's a big lean in the discussion to covering FPL assets from the teams who played in midweek which features 5 of the 6 teams who have a Double in GW37 and whether assets from the likes of Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Everton and Liverpool should go alongside them for the run-in.

James also gives a detailed view on Tottenham assets who have two upcoming doubles before revealing his intended Wildcard (subject to team news) and there's one player he's desperate to have but isn't likely to fit in.

On Clash of the Correspondents it's a focus on the only two teams who double in Gameweek 35 as James is joined by Chelsea fan Gary Mantle and Tottenham fan Ricky Saunders to discuss the latest at their clubs and talk about the best FPL assets from each club with many Wildcarders this week look to load up with 3 from each ahead of their two double gameweeks in 35 and 37.

But neither are in good form! A Chelsea without Cole Palmer were destroyed 5-0 at Arsenal on Tuesday night and it wasn't much better for Tottenham who lost 4-0 at Newcastle 12 days ago. There's discussion on Mauricio Pochettino's future and whether defeat to rivals Tottenham next week could see the process begin for a change in the dugout. While some frustrations are beginning to creep in to the mindset of Tottenham fans and there is trepidation ahead of Sunday's North London Derby.

Plus, best FPL assets discussed. Cole Palmer will be a certainty for most and so to will Heung-Min Son despite form concerns. But who else should FPL managers be investing in? Or, should they just be avoiding altogether!?

Suj rejoins James for the Sky Fantasy Football Podcast ahead of another big night of moves where differentials will be purchased - but will they actually be differentials?

Manchester United and Newcastle assets could become popular quickly and James reveals the 3 he intends to buy, it's only 3 as there was a stroke of luck when forced into a move on Sunday and one more needs to be saved for Manchester City tomorrow.

But will Suj actually make the transfers he wants with a whopping 16 left and sights set on the top 1000, whilst for James entry into the top 100 has been achieved. How high could he finish?

Plus, discussion for what should be an open few days for captaincy, Tottenham assets for Sunday, data from the weekend and thoughts on trying to chase down individual opponents in mini leagues

On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Brighton fan Sam Murray and Manchester City fan Jonny Pringle to discuss the latest at their clubs and the FPL assets of interest ahead of Thursday's meeting between the two clubs.

Have Brighton stalled this season? Can they trouble City with a 12 day period to prepare? And how strong is concern that Roberto De Zerbi may move on in the summer?

Man City have it in their own hands to claim the title again, but are they as strong now as they have been during previous title run-ins?

Plus all the key FPL assets discussed from City, featuring concerns over Erling Haaland's form, Foden v De Bruyne, if Ederson can be relied on and best defensive assets.

And has everyone forgotten that Brighton have their own Double coming up in GW37? Will the likes of Pascal Gross be wrongly overlooked? Could Joao Pedro solve the solutions for those in need of an enabling forward and are there defensive assets that should be considered?

On the weekend review of DGW34 Suj returns to join James to discuss the 7 games played so far and for those who took the plunge on Crystal Palace attacking assets it was likely a good weekend with all of Eze, Olise and Mateta returning well. Arsenal and Everton defensive assets also returned well but there was large rotation for Liverpool in their victory at Fulham with Trent Alexander-Arnold being the one that got away for James. But at least he did have decent coverage of Palace, unlikely a certain someone...

All the games discussed with thoughts already focusing beyond the rest of this double Gameweek and towards the final 4 weeks, which particular for James means thinking beyond just the 6 clubs who double in Gameweek 37. But those 6 will still make up the majority of slots for Wildcarders but are there any good defensive assets to pick from!?

Plus, more VAR controversy, especially at Goodison which led to a stinging and unusual response from Forest, thoughts from the FA Cup semi finals including the heartbreaking near miss for Coventry against Manchester United and Suj reveals that he's leaving the country, permanently.

It's a Friday Merseyside Derby Clash of the Correspondents as James welcome Everton fan Sean Norton and Liverpool fan Dan Lord to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead of the big double gameweek that includes next Wednesday's meeting between the clubs at Goodison Park.

There's discussion on the rivalry but why it's different to other local derbies and the battle to stay up for Everton and the race for the title where Liverpool now find themselves outsiders. Have they hit a wall? And how nervous are Evertonians following Monday's heavy defeat at Chelsea?

Plus, the important FPL discussions covered, including Mo Salah for the DGW34 armband, Trent vs Van Dijk, Luis Diaz and alternatives Reds assets including a misfiring Darwin Nunez. Plus, should Everton be overlooked? There will be consideration for The Blues defensive assets and they're covered too.

On James' live stream this afternoon lots of questions focusing on Double Gameweek assets for GW34 from Arsenal, Crystal Palace and Liverpool and should Free Hitters overlook those with just one fixture?

Plus, reaction to last night's Champions League exits for Arsenal and Manchester City and why James had no second thoughts about wanting rivals Arsenal to go out despite 5th now being unlikely to get Tottenham a Champions League place for next season.

James is joined by Planet FPL Patrons Phil and Shaun to discuss to discuss all the latest hot topics for Sky Fantasy Football and it was largely a failed 'moving day' on Sunday as the majority of Arsenal and Liverpool assets blanked. Next Wednesday offers another opportunity to make a heavy number of changes. But should we be looking to move before then?

There's discussion on Crystal Palace and Everton assets with Sunday in mind, best Arsenal captaincy choices for Saturday against Wolves and then Chelsea (or should be Cole Palmer!?) on Tuesday, if it's got to be Mo Salah on Sunday and thoughts on moves for next Wednesday, ehich could become particularly awkward if Manchester City's fixture at Brighton moves forward 24 hours from the Thursday.

Plus, data learnings, differentials under consideration, what the penultimate matchweek 37 fixture announcement changes in plans and lots more.
