Planet FPL - The Fantasy Football Podcast

Suj and James review the second weekend of GW21 as Arsenal and Liverpool both won handsomely, Ivan Toney returned and scored, there was controversy at Bramall Lane as The Blades drew 2-2 with West Ham and Brighton v Wolves ended goalless last night.

It was a weekend where those captaining Bukayo Saka were out of luck despite The Gunners 5-0 victory and those with Liverpool attackers Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota did well, and just think had Suj actually not missed the deadline he would have captained that Jota haul! How does he feel about it now?

There's discussion on possible transfer targets for GW22, what we can learn from the week of domestic Cup games and AFCON before the next FPL deadline and what Mo Salah's injury means to our plans and when we can expect The Egyptian King to play again for Liverpool.

On the first of two Clash of the Correspondents this week James is joined by Nottingham Forest fan Mark Sutherns and Arsenal fan Adam Pritchard to discuss the latest at their clubs, the FPL assets of interest and preview next Tuesday's meeting at The City Ground.

It's been an eventful period for Forest with Steve Cooper departing and replaced by Nuno Espirito Santo and there was immediate upturn in results, but now the threat of a points deduction is very real having fallen foul of the PSR. There's discussion on what a big deduction would mean for Forest and who's to blame for the situation they have found themselves in.

While for Arsenal they were back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable 5-0 victory against Crystal Palace, which followed 3 straight defeats. Are Arsenal still capable of clawing back their deficit to Liverpool and maintaining a title challenge?

Plus, there's a detailed chat on Bukayo Saka following his blank at the weekend, if Gabriel after his haul is the obvious go-to Arsenal defensive asset on if the longer-term there should be concern and there's chat on Forest assets too include Chris Wood, Anthony Elanga and why the goalkeeper situation continues to cause concern.

On Clash of the Correspondents James is joined by Aston Villa fan Lee Jackson and Newcastle United fan Simon Bibby to discuss the latest at their clubs ahead and the best FPL assets from each ahead of the GW22 meeting at Villa Park.

Are Villa still in contention for the title? And would it now be a disappointment if they didn't finish in the top 4? Villa's excellent record this season evokes memories in Newcastle's outstanding campaign last season. But Eddie Howe's side could find themselves in the bottom half before they travel to Villa. Are injuries the obvious explanation for a run of 6 defeats in 7 or is the manager's position under threat?

There's FPL discussion, including the prospects of captaining a Villa or Newcastle player in GW23, whether the likes of Ollie Watkins and Kieran Trippier should be held longer-term despite many FPL managers requiring funds for multiple premium assets and there's also discussion on the likes of Alex Moreno and Anthony Gordon.

Plus, with FFP and PSR a hot topic this weeks what do the fans of the 2 clubs who seem most capable of breaking through the ceiling of the big 6 think about restrictions their clubs are currently under?

Clayton joins James on the Podcast for discussion on FFP and the Premier League's version Profit and Sustainability (PSR), and it's fresh off the news that Everton (again!) and Nottingham Forest will be referred to an independent panel which will decide the punishment the two clubs will face.

Why have the two clubs failed PSR? When will they find out their punishment?

And it leads to a conversation as to whether FFP/PSR is there to protect the 'cartel' of the Big/Greedy 6 and stop those looking to break into it the upper echelons of the league from doing so.

We may only be halfway through Gameweek 21 but it's been another drama fuelled week and it began pre deadline with Suj missing Friday's deadline and wait until you hear who the captaincy is on! While for James it's been a slow start to the FPL week, but we are only halfway through.

There's discussion on the 5 games played so far which saw controversy at Burnley, Cole Palmer rewarding captainers with the only goal for Chelsea against Fulham, Manchester City won a brilliant game at Newcastle, it was goalless at Goodison and Tottenham twice came from behind to earn a point at Old Trafford.

But we need to talk about Kevin De Bruyne. Back with a goal and assist to help turn the game around on Saturday, can FPL managers ignore him with money in the bank and brilliant fixtures on the horizon which now includes a Double Gameweek!?

Clayton joins James for discussion for captaincy this week and with Mohamed Salah, Heung-Min Son and Jarrod Bowen absent, plus Erling Haaland remaining doubtful, it's not easy to choose who may be best!

The podcast doubles up as a preview of the games in GW21 including tactical insight into Manchester United against Tottenham with an analysis of captaincy possiblities from each game leading towards an overall conclusion.

But will James and Clayton agree...?

With just over 48 hours to go until the closure of the Sky Fantasy Football Overhaul Suj and James deliberate the players under consideration for selection ahead of the Friday night Burnley-Luton encounter, but should Sky managers really consider skipping the very first game after Overhaul?

Every team covered, with a number ruled out of interest; there's a core 5-6 players likely to be in the majority of teams, considering how to get injured and unavailable players back in needs to be remembered, covering captaincy is discussed and James reveals his current draft.
