Planet FPL - The Fantasy Football Podcast

After the 'anyone got points?' carnage of GW11, Suj and James review an extraordinary GW12 weekend which concluded with an all time classic between Chelsea and Manchester City and opened with Tottenham losing late on at Wolves. Newcastle were humbled at Bournemouth, while Erling Haaland and Mo Salah both returned 16 pointer, but many FPL managers benched Kostantinos Tsimikas' 15 point haul in Liverpool's victory against Brentford.

All the games covered, there's discussion on defensive FPL assets, why GW13 looks ugly for many, the importance of recognising when teams are missing key central midfield players, upcoming fixture swings, FPL assets of interest and lots more...

With James off to Wolverhampton tomorrow to watch Ben Davies and Eric Dier trying and defend on the halfway line the Deadline Stream was once again brought forward to a late Friday afternoon start, which means it was also released as an audio.

Intended transfers discussed. There are flag concerns with some short term such as Bukayo Saka and some longer-term such as James Maddison. Solutions discussed.

James is joined this week on Clash of the Correspondents by Brighton fan Sam Murray and Sheffield United fan Ben 'Tommo' Thompson ahead of Sunday's GW12 meeting at The Amex.

The Seagulls have gone 5 Premier League games without victory, is the distraction of the Europa League and dream ties such as tonight's trip to Amsterdam proving to distracting on a squad that is beginning to be stretched by injuries?

The Blades finally recorded their first victory on Saturday against Wolves, could this be the start of a run despite being written off by most neutrals? And can they frustrate Brighton at the weekend?

Plus, key FPL assets discussed, such as Kaoru Mitoma and Simo Adingra, Blades enablers George Baldock and 'trampoline' Cameron Archer. And we all are waiting patiently for the return of Pervis Estupinan.

Just when you thought it was safe to log out, the game changes the outlook. It was a disastrous week for the majority of Sky Fantasy Managers and for around half Cristian Romero's red card on Monday night means action needs to be taken for owners.

On the Podcast Suj and James plot solutions to the Romero problem including whether managers should go back when his suspension ends. There's other injuries that may concern too, but within the chaos there are plenty of opportunities within a number of teams.

Plus, weekend learnings, upcoming captaincy preferences, current thinking on the Fulham-Wolves single gameday, listener questions and more...

Following Sunday night's live show much of the audience stayed behind for a Q'N'A with Suj and James to ask a variety of FPL and football questions. And absolutely nothing said came back to bite James on the arse at Tottenham last night!

There's talk on FPL players who could break the template, how to deal with the bad Gameweek, football fandom, VAR, Tottenham's title chances (James edit: yes this would now be no chance!), Jarrod Bowen's quality, concerns for Fulham, England's Euro 2024 chances

Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with Monday's event and thank you to everyone in the audience who contributed a question.

Last night at The Thirsty Bear Pub in Central London Suj and James welcomed an audience of Fantasy Football managers for the Gameweek Review and it was a Gameweek that will live long in the memory for being one of the lowest scoring weeks in memory for engaged managers with Erling Haaland off at half time against Bournemouth with a 1 point return and Mo Salah fared only 1 point better at Luton!

All the games reviewed, which included Bruno Fernandes winning it late for Manchester United at Fulham,

the controversy surrounding Newcastle's win against Arsenal, Brentford's topsy turvy victory against West Ham that was ultimately deserved in the end, Jeremy Doku's massive haul and the disappointing Aston Villa and Liverpool.

And what next? Should Haaland owners sell? Injury concerns covered, transfer ideas pondered and GW12 captaincy discussed.

Thank you to everyone who supported and helped with yesterday's event!

How much of a consciousness should Blank Gameweek 18 have on the thinking and strategy of FPL managers?

On this Podcast Suj & James discuss the two paths managers are on. Those who have used the Wildcard and those who will use it straight after GW19. What difference does this make? Should managers already have a consciousness of the transfers they make now and how that could impact on the Blank?

There's advice, particularly around rotating defensive players, the 3 teams who have outstanding GW18 fixtures, consciousness of who has it good before and in the Gameweek.

And awareness of those who don't play, Manchester City and Brentford, their great fixtures before and after the Blank and the likelihood of the postponed fixture being rearranged for GW20, but at what point should we think that might not happen...?

Suj and James discuss all the latest for Sky Fantasy and for many managers this could be a period to relax and let the points take care of themselves and for those trying to chase patience may be needed.

That's because the upcoming captaincy options focuses very much around the current top 4 of Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham looking best and the announcement of the December TV fixtures has only added to the narrative.

There's a full briefing of the TV picks including those straight after Overhaul, why returning to Chelsea ownership will look crucial, learnings from the weekend, listener questions and more...

James is joined by Dan and Dan on Clash of the Correspondents this week as Luton Town fan Dan Ashby and Liverpool fan Dan Lord discuss all the latest at their clubs ahead of the Super Sunday meeting at Kenilworth Road.

Luton have shown variation of late but points are still proving difficult to accumulate. Can they beat the drop and does it already look like 3 from 4 will go down?

Can The Reds mount a serious challenge for the title after a promising start despite some difficult fixtures?

Plus, Salah v Haaland for the GW11 FPL armband, Kostantinos Tsimikas potential, the 'want' to have Mr Chaos Darwin Nunez and are there any enabling Luton assets for consideration?
