  • Making The World A Kinder Place with John Oberg - PTP331
In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with John Oberg about making an impact through the vegan movement. Vegan activism is something that the plant-based community either shys away from or starts to dip their toes into after a while. We love John's approach, that there is really something for everyone hardcore or softcore to help spread the word about the welfare of animals and our planet in making it a kinder place. Whether it be the wool industry, fishing, the use of plastic straws, you can help make a difference without overstepping your comfort zone by sending a simple Tweet, Facebook post or IG story. We know this episode will be eye-opening for you. John Oberg is a social media pro, influencer, and animal advocate dedicated to making the world a kinder place for animals by utilizing the power of social media. He recently launched his own independent project for animals through Patreon. Previously, he served as Director of New Media for the international animal protection organization, The Humane League. Before that, John served as Director of Communications for Vegan Outreach. John oversaw social media for the organizations which led to a tenfold increase in following in both, as well as over 1 billion impressions of content posted to these pages. In 2019, he's had a reach of over 100 million impressions through his Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook Pages. You'll learn how to make a bigger impact through your social media reach, so share this one with anyone on social media who wants to make a difference. In this episode we discuss: His journey Ethics of our pets to animals How to make those connections Factory farming Sheep and wool Fish The environment Plastic straws His activism Not just preaching to the choir What kind of content captures the attention How can people listening make an impact Are vegans weak The way you eat can be enough

  • Busting Myths About Protein Powders with Andrew Brindle - PTP330
In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with Andrew Brindle all about the ins and outs of protein powders. One of the most asked questions we get is "what protein powder do you use?" Our answer is usually "we don't". Sure, we have a jug sitting in our pantry that barely gets touched, saved for the days we are literally out of groceries. But the truth is, when we actually do use protein powder for the occasional smoothie or banana nice cream, we want it to be the best of the best. So we called on Andrew to let us know about protein powder myths, what could be in the jug that we just don't want and why so many people get that bloated feeling after certain shakes. Andrew Brindle is the 35-year-old founder and Chief Formulator of Real Pro Life Nutrition. He started the company 3 years ago when he saw a gap in the market for quality plant-based vegan protein. Andrew is based in Las Vegas, Nevada and is an avid plant-based fitness buff and jiu-jitsu competitor. He is a really smart guy and he's not afraid to disclose the industry's secrets because he has nothing to hide. We wanted to let you know that we have no financial affiliation with Real Pro Life Nutrition. Andrew Brindle is such a source of knowledge on this aged old protein powder topic, and we knew he was the guy to have on the show to help answer everyone's questions. In this episode we discuss: His journey to health and plant-based Micronutrients and macronutrients Putting anything in a smoothie Do we really need protein powder? How much protein do we need? Source of protein Heavy Metals Reading labels Protein and stomach issues How else to use protein powder in recipes

  • Total Sexy Health with Udo Erasmus - PTP329
In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with Udo Erasmus about how to achieve Total Sexy Health. Udo is a world-known speaker and we were quite excited to hear about his system for overall health. He brings up some very good points about being alone, internal awareness and the mind-body connection. We wanted to say that we do not have any invested interest in Udo's Choice products and some of his views, like psychedelics, are his opinion, not ours. We really do think he is a very interesting man and there are a lot of great takeaways for your overall health. In 1980, Udo got pesticide poisoning and became very ill. With possible cancer and death to look forward to, he got serious about healing himself at a core level. This eventually led to him founding Udo's Choice. Udo invented the machinery for making oils, enzymes, probiotics and more. Udo first pioneered Flaxseed Oil. Over the years he has been interviewed more than 3000 times. He speaks at Tony Robbins events (on oils) and Deepak Chopra's (on peace). Udo is an acclaimed author, speaker, and expert on TOTAL SEXY HEALTH. • Creating Healthier and More Sustainable Schools - PTP327
In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk about ways to create healthier more sustainable schools. As you can imagine, Shoshana makes sure to have a voice in the decisions that are being made in their children's school. Everything from nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, and waste is important to us in our family, and we want our children having those values carried over into their school experiences from themselves and their friends. The tricky part is how to institute change without getting pushback before you even open the door; something she has done somewhat elegantly. Hopefully, by the end of this episode, Adam feels like he understands why Shoshana spends this time at the school instead of with the family. Please share this episode with any value-driven parents who want to see a change in their children's schools. You can find it posted on Instagram and Twitter (@planttrainers) as well as on the Plant Trainers Podcast Facebook page. We explore the science behind redox molecules and the importance of them. We also share some stories of how supplementing with them has not only changed lives but given life back again to so many people. Please share this with anyone in your life who is not living their best self even if they have resisted your plant-based approach before, as this can be a stand-alone tool for anyone's body to heal regardless of diet. • RunSpirited Towards Plant-Based with Henry Howard - PTP325
In this episode of The Plant Trainers Podcast, we talk with Henry Howard, who interviewed us for his running blog a while black. This episode is a little different, as he is not fully plant-based. Henry has been researching the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle for a long time and is still working his way to becoming 100%. We thought it would be interesting for those who are not quite there yet as well to hear about what challenges he has and get some advice on how to address that. He also shares his Chrones, Celiac and running journey and how diet has played a factor in that. Henry Howard began his running journey in 2011 when he wanted to accomplish a bucket-list goal: finish a marathon. During his first run of 1.5 miles, he stopped three times, puked in the driveway and thought he was going to die. He did finish that marathon 18 months later, and since then has completed 20 marathons, qualified for and run the Boston Marathon, and finished eight ultra marathons. Along this journey, Henry has gone from a typical Western diet to a plant-based lifestyle that is somewhere between vegan and pescatarian but always gluten-free. Now at age 50, he has never been in better shape in his life, as he trains for his first 100-mile race this fall. At the same time, Henry has also become a certified running coach and trains athletes to meet their goals. He also writes about inspiring athletes, share his journey and reviews running gear at his website, RunSpirited.com. In this episode we discuss: Community Social media positive and negative Running, recovery and training Sons being diagnosed with celiac disease Plant-based journey Breaking down the challenges of going 100% Breakfast in hotels What foods work before and after your races Carb loading- yay or nay?
