Pleasers & Punishers

As we continue our journey through Anthology August, we’re covering our first-ever entry in the V/H/S/ franchise!

Join us for discussions of 80s authenticity, rants about other entries in the series, and another of Amanda’s screeds against Scott Derrickson.

Be kind, rewind ;)

Lube up your puppet hole and slap on your royal court makeup because we’re heading to the Balkans on a mission to get an entire family killed!

From its incredible aesthetics to its unapologetic queerness, this is a truly unique vampire film in today’s horror landscape, and we hope you’ll join us for a nice family dinner.

We’re saluting Claudia Schiffer & asking “Why you wanna break my heart?” with our episode on Penelope Spheeris’s pitch-perfect comedy from the golden when “dudes rock” was actually true.

So grab your Strat, memorize those cue cards, and learn how to say this in Cantonese: Hi…we’re in Delaware…

Party time! Excellent!

Clickety clackety! Clickety clackety! We be the witches of the wood! And we’re joined by Ten Backe for a deep dive into american folklore, religion, and the patriarchy for Robert Eggers’ debut feature.

As usual, we get very silly while having some very serious discussions.

Content Warning for discussions of child abuse.

Ho! Clear is here the trace of him we seek!

Welcome to season two, fellow travelers! We’re kicking off our free-for-all month with one of Mae’s all-time favorites in Travis Stevens’ Greek Mythology-laden feminist masterpiece.

We’re joined by Ari Drew on our first main feed video episode to talk men being punished, Athena being an anti-feminist, and why Josh Ruben should have hung dong for the second half of the film.

So pack your bag for a weekend trip to the woods and make sure you don’t wrong any women, lest the Erinys come for you…

So here we proudly present 2 full hours of outtakes & bloopers, replete with copious amounts of giggling, culled from the entirety of our first season.

Next week begins our foray into video so please stay tuned!

It’s the final episode of our first season, so crack open your poetry collection, pick up your pills, and let’s head to Serbia—er, The Berkshires—for David Bruckner’s legacy sequel/requel(?) that inspired Mae’s most recent album!

Tomi Trembath joins us to talk about its updated mythology, subverting the “bury your gays” trope, and the glory of trans “pinhead”. Plus so, so many hilarious tangents and, as always, lots of gigles.

It’s time to get back in the trenches for a WWI history lesson! Just kidding—we’re talking the goofiest of the theatrically released Hellraiser films, and we’re having a great time.

Joining us is author, programmer, and pop culture critic Anthony Oliveira for another wide-ranging discussion. From missed sapphic opportunities to our personal theories on The Order Of The Gash, and more.
