The Deadites recuperate after the Battle of the Blightlands and mourn the fallen who came to their aid. Anise aims to finally work toward unpetrifying and resurrecting her father, Sage, but there are some unforeseen complications.

Kana has felled Endokarr's risen skeletal form, and Hardback has forced Aldek, the Abishai, to dance; but Feth'raza'al continues to slam the Deadites with arcane bolts from her Throne, even as Dailen is continuously spell-thwarted by Windsgar. With each second that passes, more and more allies fall to the hordes of Demons in the Blightlands. Meanwhile, Traze and Kiirtra chased after Skythrax, only to find themselves face to face with the Ancient Dragon himself.

They put out the call, and the Deadites' allies now join them in the Blightlands to put an end to Feth'raza'al's plot.

The investigation begins! Hardback leads an inquisition into the trash heap, Anael interrogates Granny, and Windsgar bumps into Melf.

Hardback returns! The Deadites catch each other up on their adventures, reminisce, and goof around. Hardback educates them on Dragon Lore, and the Mechanist pleads for them to dig up some information they can use to defend themselves.

Ratu Darah's Patron is revealed. Endokarr, the Dark One joins the fray. The Deadites are intent on putting him back in the ground.

Ungol's Quarry is swarming with Abishai and Tanarukk, saturated with acid, and a woman is praying to a creature named Endokarr, The Dark One. The Deadites will need to use their cunning to get out of here with those precious stones... or, just, you know, kill everyone.

Tanarukk keep popping up from the quarry. But the Deadites never retreated before, and won't start now. Once they're done here, they need to get one of the machines up and running again, or search to find a richer vein.

The Sea of Salt passes under the Deadites in their precipitous forms as they fly to Ungol's Quarry. Hundreds of craters in the ground surrounded by displaced rock, stone, and salt piled into unnatural mountains. But what lurks inside are more than just gems, and the barren landscape has some odd pools of bubbling muck all over.

Anise uses Wind Walk, turning the Deadites into clouds and flying over the Desert. But what goes up must come down, and they come down in the Sea of Salt where they become increasingly unnerved by the non-stationary scenery.
