Through the years, I’ve been a CNN correspondent, an EIC at Travel Savvy, Avenue and Show Circuit, a columnist for the New York Post, Ad Week and Metropolitan Home, as well as writing  for the New York Times, and many women’s magazines. I was also chief  content officer at First Wives World

Yet nothing has ever felt as right as this project.

Because at this chapter of life, you want to plant seeds of possibility and share some of your hard-won wisdom with others, as well as do what you love. Whenever I’ve needed a breath of beauty or a break from the ugliness of the world, flowers have been my solace. I hope this site elicits that experience for you.

After creating this idea, I  gathered seasoned professionals who share the same passion for flowers and respect nature’s gifts and insights to help curate this happy project.

We hope you will be patient with us since we are just seedlings now; over time this garden will grow. But every day we will present stories inspired by flowers and floral motifs, making us the first all-floral news site.

Since we look at how flowers populate pop culture, each day will bring a different focus as well as a daily burst of positivity, beauty and wisdom.

On Mondays, especially on our Instagram, we look at decor, art and travel. Tuesdays are tips about flower arranging, gardens or using flowers in everyday life. Wellness Wednesday looks at how flowers are used in medicine, as well as the beauty industry – especially fragrances in candles and oils. Throwback Thursdays reflect on the past by presenting timeless beauty and wisdom. Friday will always be a fun fact about flowers and meeting some fab florists. Saturday is our fashion day as well as weekend fun with pets – as we share photos of beloved canines and cats with flowers. Sunday is our Floral Foodie Sunday and we introduce you to a cast of characters who inventively use flowers in their cuisine and drinks.

Join us for our curated newsletter, Instagram and website. Fun we will have. If you look at life through the prism of flowers- you will be happier. As I often say, flowers are here for a reason and teach great life lessons. We use flowers to both comfort and congratulate and to express sentiments without many words. No matter what is going on in your life – flowers are here for you.  Because flowers are a universal kiss to remind us that solace and beauty exist.

  • Escaping Gilead! The Handmaid's Tale Podcast (Episode 403)

It wouldn’t be The Handmaid’s Tale without some good old-fashioned torture scenes, would it? We need characters like the Lieutenant to remind us of the kind of people Gilead uses to meet its goals. If you’ve watched any amount of horror or certain kinds of thrillers (or Schindler’s List come to think of it), you’ve doubtless seen the smiling, jovial, workaday psychopath embodied by the Lieutenant. When a character like that enters the frame, the audience is meant to feel like ANYTHING is possible because he’d feel no remorse about it. BUT did that make you feel worried for Hannah, trapped in that plexiglass box? During Paul and Caroline’s discussion of The Crossing, they spend a lot of time on that subject.

    They also ponder:

    • The believability of June’s continued survival
    • The believability of the Handmaids’ last stand at the railroad tracks
    • The stuff happening in Canada
    • Season 3:

    • Escaping Gilead! The Handmaid's Tale Podcast (Episode 402)

Feeling the heat, June makes a very risky call in poisoning (that’s the “nightshade” in Nightshade) the local Jezebels clientele before securing the safe relocation of the other handmaids. Should she have, though? On the one hand, the only good Commander is a dead commander. On the other, June totally screwed up, got her allies killed / caught and herself caught. Caroline and Paul talk about the wisdom of that decision as well as:

      • Possible double meanings of the episode’s title and how they may ripple through the show’s events
      • That “romantic” scene on the bridge between June and Nick. Weird? Unbelievable?
      • The evolving role of Joseph Lawrence (is he still a Commander?) and whether or not he can be counted on to still act in June’s best interests
      • Season 3:

        Paul and Caroline talk about:

        • Mrs. Keyes and the various icky things involved with her tragic backstory
        • June. Lots of talk about June. And then a little bit of Janine.

Acclaimed actress and singer Bellamy Young recently starred in her award-winning role as “President Mellie Grant” on Shonda Rhimes’ Peabody Award-winning series, “Scandal.”  Young’s performance as the politically ambitious First-Lady-then-President earned her the 2014 Critics’ Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

Her film credits include Ava DuVernay’s “A Wrinkle in Time,” as well as a starring role alongside Lou Diamond Phillips in the crime thriller “The Night Stalker.” Young has appeared with some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, in films such as “We Were Soldiers” and “Mission Impossible: III.” She can also be seen in several independent films, including “Bernard & Huey”; Zoe Cassavetes’ “Day Out of Days”; the Sundance favorite “The Freebie,” starring Dax Shepard; and “A Country Remedy,” which she starred in and produced. In 2020, she was the voice of “Martha Kent” in the animated feature “Superman: Man of Tomorrow.”

Young’s extensive television resume includes recurring roles on “Criminal Minds,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” “CSI: Miami” and “Scrubs.” She made her television debut as “Dr. Courtney Evans” on the long-running soap opera “Another World.”

Young began her acting career on Broadway in Cy Coleman’s “The Life” and in the revival of Stephen Sondheim’s “Merrily We Roll Along.” Additional credits include the first run of Randy Newman’s “Faust” and the first run of Pulitzer-prize winning playwright Lanford Wilson’s “Book of Days.” In 2015, Young released her debut album, “Far Away So Close,” a collection of contemporary covers influenced by her North Carolina roots.

Through her philanthropic work, Young serves as the national spokesperson for the Humane Society of The United States’ campaign, The Shelter Pet Project. She also has brought awareness to the donation-based foundation Operation Blankets. During the Obama Administration, Young served as the Ambassador for The Trust for The National Mall, alongside Chelsea Clinton.

Born in the mountains of Asheville, NC, Young graduated from Yale University with dual degrees in English and theater studies. She also holds a certificate from Oxford University in England.
