Podcast By Friday Episode 20

The importance of URL and tagline for the success of your podcast can't be stressed enough. Choosing a URL (Uniform Resource Locator) is like choosing a street address for your podcast webpage. Choosing a URL with keywords that may appear prominently in a Google search can help people find your podcast.

We also discuss taglines and how they can help people tell what your podcast is about, faster and more effectively.

In this episode, we show you how to choose a URL, how to register your domain and get a hosting package. We tell you the service we use as well as the tools we use to get the job done.

We talk about using a shortcut to search for a URL and register it using http://podcastbyfriday.com/url.

Website Hosting and Website Building Tools We Use

By Bill Griggs and Kingsley Grant

Podcast By Friday Episode 19

Tools we - Bill Griggs and Kingsley Grant - use to manage this site is what some have asked us about. You might have had this question burning within you or may have done Google search and talked with others, but are not any further in your understanding than when you began.

We have found that gaining information is the easy part.

As stated we can do a quick research on Google and talk to people we know. However, the problem is finding what works and what doesn't work. Also, simplifying the process is a top priority.

We look for a ways ensure things are clear and straight forward. We try to ensure that what we say and do will help you implement simplified processes.

You may have heard other episodes and hear how we let our thoughts flow free, share our personal experiences, expertise and from time to time, disagree with each other.

We call that loving banter. But nothing comes between us.

In this episode, we discuss what has worked for us and we believe will work for you as well.

We talk about three tools that have made building our website simple, easy and fast:

1. Bluehost

2. WP Profit Builder

3. Wordpress

The Power Of Small Action Steps

By Bill Griggs and Kingsley Grant

Podcast By Friday Episode 18

It's The Small Things That Lead To Big Things

Most times we think of doing big things we or at least I, envision actually doing something really big. I correlate the two. But is doing big things always require doing big things?
If you ask most successful people they will tell you about incremental growth. It's the little things being done many times over that tend to lead into big things.

One thing you can do is think of something that you want to do that you consider big. NOTE: to do big things can be relevant. What might be big to me may not be to you and vice versa.

If you take that big thing and do what 's called reverse engineering, you'll find that you can break down your journey by taking one small step at a time. You'll eventually get to your big thing.

In this episode, Bill Griggs and Kingsley Grant discuss seemingly small things such as affiliate marketing, using different microphones, taking someone out to lunch and a whole lot more of what some would consider small things.

3 Tips To Improve Your Voice Behind The Microphone
By Bill Griggs and Kingsley Grant

Podcast by Friday is a show that helps people create their Minimal Viable Podcast (TM) by taking bold action to defeat procrastination and get their voices heard.

Podcast By Friday Episode 16

3 Tips To Improve Your Voice Behind The Microphone

Tip #1: Record yourself speaking and take time to listen to it.

- you’ll be surprised to see how many crutch words you use, which if removed, could be an immediate improvement to your voice behind the microphone
- crutch words are fillers such as Ahms, Uhms, it’s like, etc. These are used to avoid silence or a pause.
- it’s a reflection of nervousness, which can be controlled.
- with practice and heightened awareness, this could be drastically reduced.

Tip #2: Sitting versus standing

Sitting leads to less projection of your voice. Being so comfortable in your chair, causes you to project less than if you were standing.

- your body posture such as a slouch affects your ability to sound out words. Your diaphragm is compressed while sitting
- standing on the other hand gives access to the air flow, which is how you sound out words. It aids your exhalation process. Speaking requires great use and management of your breathing.
- standing allows you to project your voice a whole lot more.- some podcasters and other radio personalities have moved away from sitting behind a desk to a standing position while recording.

Tip #3: Join a Toastmasters or similar group or get a speaking coach

- one of the most long running groups that helps people on how to speak better, is Toastmasters International.
- there are other groups that may offer similar opportunities.- outside of having a group, you could hire a coach or a mentor to help develop your speaking skills.

Bonus Tip: Use proper breathing techniques:

- learn taking breaths
if you start playing before you take a breath you are going to run out of breath before you’re done playing.
- use proper techniques in your breathing pattern. Example taking a deep breath and then expelling the air through your mouth pushing from the diaphragm.
Remember, keep breathing, you’ll be fine and practice become permanent.

We would love to hear from you, which one you found most helpful or already have in place. Place your comment below or within this Facebook group.
