We celebrate Easter to remember the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. So what was it like for the men who were actually there? Jimmy Seibert offers some perspective on the disciples this sermon from Easter Sunday.

The disciples were privy to the life and ministry of Jesus in a powerful way. They got a close up look at the power of God, the forgiveness of God and the love of God. None were more passionate than Peter, but he was nowhere to be found when Jesus was crucified. He failed to dwell on the promise God had for him. But when Jesus rose from the dead, everything changed. The resurrection took Peter from a failure to a future, and it can do the same for you.

After spending years with the church in Ephesus, the apostle Paul set out for Jerusalem, prompted by the Holy Spirit. So what does an old Church Father tell his congregation before he leaves them? Jimmy Seibert explains Paul’s farewell to the Ephesians and how it is still relevant to us today.

In Acts 20, Paul gives his parting words to his friends, telling them that, despite all his hardships, he has lived a good life. He encourages them to live the same way; With Christ at the center, bearing with others through tears and trials, valuing a giver’s heart, practicing repentance towards God, faith in Jesus, and always speaking the word of grace. In our final sermon on the book of Ephesians, Jimmy walks through each of these points, demonstrating how we can lead a life like Paul in the 21st century.

We’ve been discussing spiritual warfare for the past few weeks in our Focus on Ephesians, but there is something that makes all the difference in our struggle against the enemy. Drew Steadman joins us this week to talk about the key for our victory.

Too often, we encounter situations with the right knowledge, but the wrong perspective. Like a child at the zoo, we have the right knowledge of the jaguar; it’s big and has sharp teeth. But we have the wrong perspective, forgetting the jaguar is safely behind glass. As Christians, we often forget our victory in Jesus and allow fear to reign in our minds. But fear is an atheistic way of thinking because it imagines a situation without God in it.

In the height of World War II, allied forces won a key victory on the beaches of Normandy, France. Since that moment, it was widely known that we were fighting a winning war. This week, Jimmy Seibert shares how the battle is similar for us since Jesus has already won the key victory on the cross.

A continuation of Ephesians discussion on spiritual warfare, this sermon focuses on claiming our victory by putting on the full armor of God. Using a suit of S.W.A.T. team armor, Jimmy walks through each piece, from the belt of truth to the sword of the spirit, giving practical explanation of how each Christian can take hold of the victory Jesus won. The key, he argues, is to simply reject passivity and stand firm with the tools God has given us.

Paul says in Ephesians 6:10-12 that our struggle is real, and it is not with flesh and blood but against spiritual forces that would lead us further and further away from Jesus. The devil wants to lie, steal and kill. He is often as subtle as an inappropriate television show that is allowed to be left on in our house through our passivity. But we can engage in spiritual warfare with confidence, knowing that we have the high ground because we are seated with Christ in the heavenly places.

Don has been there, done that. He’s been a businessman, a pastor, a father of six and a leader of a church planting movement in India. But it’s all happened out of weakness. He faced challenges when he was called out of ministry into business. He was diagnosed with cancer. He had to leave his home of 29 years to follow the calling of God on his life. But by simply saying yes and taking each baby step to which God called him, he learned about God’s heart for the poor and His mission in the nations. That same invitation is open to all of us today.

Woobies, of course, are those things we held onto for security as children; blankets, teddy bears, a favorite toy… But what happens when we have woobies as adults? Jimmy Seibert continues his Ephesians series this week with a sermon on what to do when your desire for woobies crowds out your hunger for God.

Ephesians 5:18-20 says that it’s better to be filled with the Spirit of God than with wine. We all seek worldly pleasure sometimes. It might be wine, T.V., food or any number of other comforts. But it’s far too easy to assume we need these things more than God, and it might be necessary to empty ourselves of the pleasures of the world to make room for the pleasures of God. Fasting is one great tool to do just that. Through fasting, we can access greater intimacy with God and spiritual breakthrough.

Ever been trying to hold a conversation with someone who has really rotten breath? This week, Jimmy continues his series, A Focus on Ephesians, with a teaching on something very similar. It’s called spiritual halitosis and it stinks!

Ephesians 4:29-30 says to let no unwholesome talk come from our mouths. But what does the word “unwholesome” mean? In the biblical context, it has to do with any talk that is fowl and rotten, like a piece of bad fruit. It’s not just about cussing and lying. It also has to do with the critical speech we are so prone to spew. But where is the balance between “venting” and just “throwing up” all your junk? Jimmy explores this and many other topics in this sermon.
