  • On Good Terms with Our Jealous God!

Nahum 1:2-8 NLT The Lord is a jealous God, filled with vengeance and rage. He takes revenge on all who oppose him and continues to rage against his enemies! 3 The Lord is slow to get angry, but his power is great, and he never lets the guilty go unpunished. He displays his power in the whirlwind and the storm. The billowing clouds are the dust beneath his feet. 4 At his command the oceans dry up, and the rivers disappear. The lush pastures of Bashan and Carmel fadeand the green forests of Lebanon wither. 5 In his presence the mountains quake, and the hills melt away; the earth trembles, and its people are destroyed. 6 Who can stand before his fierce anger? Who can survive his burning fury? His rage blazes forth like fire, and the mountains crumble to dust in his presence. 7 The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. 8 But he will sweep away his enemies in an overwhelming flood. He will pursue his foes into the darkness of night.

  • Who You Gonna Call

Micah 5:1-6 NLT Mobilize! Marshal your troops! The enemy is laying siege to Jerusalem. They will strike Israel’s leader in the face with a rod. 2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf. 3 The people of Israel will be abandoned to their enemies until the woman in labor gives birth. Then at last his fellow countrymen will return from exile to their own land. 4 And he will stand to lead his flock with the Lord’s strength, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God. Then his people will live there undisturbed, for he will be highly honored around the world. 5 And he will be the source of peace. When the Assyrians invade our land and break through our defenses, we will appoint seven rulers to watch over us, eight princes to lead us. 6 They will rule Assyria with drawn swords and enter the gates of the land of Nimrod. He will rescue us from the Assyrians when they pour over the borders to invade our land.

  • Wounds Too Deep To Heal!

Micah 1:8-9 NLT Therefore, I will mourn and lament. I will walk around barefoot and naked. I will howl like a jackal and moan like an owl. 9 For my people’s wound is too deep to heal. It has reached into Judah, even to the gates of Jerusalem.

  • How To Make the City the Best!

Jonah 3:1-5 NLT Then the Lord spoke to Jonah a second time: 2 “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh, and deliver the message I have given you.” 3 This time Jonah obeyed the Lord’s command and went to Nineveh, a city so large that it took three days to see it all. 4 On the day Jonah entered the city, he shouted to the crowds: “Forty days from now Nineveh will be destroyed!” 5 The people of Nineveh believed God’s message, and from the greatest to the least, they declared a fast and put on burlap to show their sorrow.

  • How To Make Things Worse!

Jonah 1:1-6 NLT The Lord gave this message to Jonah son of Amittai: 2 “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are.” 3 But Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord. He went down to the port of Joppa, where he found a ship leaving for Tarshish. He bought a ticket and went on board, hoping to escape from the Lord by sailing to Tarshish. 4 But the Lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship apart. 5 Fearing for their lives, the desperate sailors shouted to their gods for help and threw the cargo overboard to lighten the ship. But all this time Jonah was sound asleep down in the hold. 6 So the captain went down after him. “How can you sleep at a time like this?” he shouted. “Get up and pray to your god! Maybe he will pay attention to us and spare our lives.”

  • How to make it better

It happens . . . LOSS and the Losses add up – and before you know it you’re feeling BITTER thinking you have nothing left! It happens . . . LIFE and the Load of Life weigh you down – and before you know it you’re feeling BITTER as if you can’t take anything else. It happened to Naomi – her happily ever after Fairy Tale ended abruptly. First, the Famine took her Home away as she, her husband and sons fled their country for better opportunity. Then, Funerals took her husband and ten years later her sons. Now, her Future seems Hopeless. Now, it’s not just her as a widow but her two daughters-in-law! Talk about a Bitter Pill to Swallow. She felt the Bitterness. (Nobody could understand
totally what she was feeling!) She expressed her Bitterness – Ruth 1:13 – (can you hear the frustration in Naomi’s voice) let me stop fooling myself! Y’all go home. I’m fighting a losing battle!
Then, she went as far as changing her name to Bitterness – Ruth 1:20. I just believe that I have some Naomi’s in the house today! Times of Life have robbed you of your beauty! You don’t even
look like your old self. The Trials of Life have drained you of your strength and dignity. Pastor, I’m here but I’m Bitter! Bitter because of financial struggles. Bitter because he left me. Bitter because he didn’t leave me! Bitter because of the sickness. Bitter because I’ve been overlooked for the promotion. Bitter because I’m raising children by myself. Bitter because of the loneliness. I hear you, “How do I make it better?” How do I make it better when everything is against me . . . when God, Himself, is fighting against me? Since SUCCESS start with your perspective, to make it Better, drop the “i” and replace it with “e”!
