The Apostle Paul has been giving piece by piece of the Armor of God and teaching us how to DEFEND against the tricks of the devil. But before he concludes, he gives us the one offensive weapon – the Sword of the Spirit. With the Sword, we fight and win, we cut and conquer, we defeat and destroy our enemy. To WIN the battle and Gain Ground against the Devil, strap up with the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God!

What’s happening? Somebody tell me what’s happening? We fight more with each other in church than we fight against Satan outside the church. We are being pushed back when we should be progressing forward. We are losing ground when we should be standing our ground. What’s happening? NO PEACE! We have prosperity but no PEACE, popularity but no PEACE, great pep rallies but no PEACE! Jesus’ last prayer ought to be our first priority.

he devil is our real enemy with and he’s coming after us with everything he’s got. He is a persistent pest and tenacious tempter who will patiently wait until you least expect it and then pounce upon you with blows and arrows – blows of sins and arrows of accusation. This was how he came Jesus in Luke 4 – physically (Jesus was hungry), emotionally/mentally (Jesus was all alone), and spiritually (questioning Jesus’ identity). Luke 4:13 “When the devil had finished tempting Jesus, he left Him until the next opportunity came.” To protect the soldier’s vital organs (heart, lungs, stomach) from blows and arrows, he wore a breastplate around his chest. The breastplate could be made of metal or leather or both but it stop the enemies arrows or sword from penetrating. Since the Devil’s strategy is to knock us down and to take us out, we must STAY UP with Righteousness!

It’s happening . . . subtly but strategically and systematically. It’s happening. Truth is being eradicated from our society. Nobody speaks the truth anymore. Nobody stands for the truth anymore. Nobody lives the truth anymore. Everybody has their own version of the truth and so they spin the facts, hold back details, fail to give the whole story in attempt to sway people to their way of thinking. Bottom line – we have become a nation of lies. From the White House even to the Church Houses, from the News to the Internet, from Actors to Politicians, you just don’t know what to believe anymore because people LIE SO MUCH! Since the TRUTH holds everything together, to stand against Satan, we must TIGHTEN UP!

Since you will face opposition living for Jesus, you must Take a Stand! You must be deliberate and determined, passionate and persistent, committed and courageous!

We have all seen the pictures – Happy Couples, Marital Bliss, Husband and Wife enjoying life, Magical Marriages, Love on Display, and my all-time favorite – Holding Hands. Even as children, some of us dreamed of the miraculous moment when we would discover our SOUL Mate – the sound of Fireworks would be heard in the distance, our heart would skip a beat as the sparkle and twinkle in their eyes would whisper, “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” Then, it happens. We FALL in Love! Unfortunately, for many they do more FALLING than LOVING. Falling down making mistakes. Falling out with each other. Falling short of the expectations. Falling behind in the bills. Falling head over hills for someone else. Some even Fall asleep during . . . We wonder, “What happened?” How can something that started so GOOD turn out SO BAD?
