What does it mean to have an active faith? Is it simply the actions we take? While we know our salvation comes by the grace of God, our faith in Him should inspire us to flee from things that draw us away from God, spur us on to good deeds, and to live lives that reflect the incredible gift of salvation in and through Christ Jesus.

In 1 Timothy 5, Paul instructs Timothy to lead boldly while, at the same time, treating others with respect, compassion, and humility. Whether correcting an older man, mentoring younger believers, or caring for widows in need, the church must reflect a godly family—one that loves unconditionally, but not at the expense of truth. A godly community cares for the vulnerable, supports one another, and reflects a culture where Christlike love is evident in both word and action.

Softening truth to avoid offense is not a new concept. Paul’s words to Timothy call for bold, uncompromising faithfulness to God’s Word. Like many pastors and teachers today, Timothy faced the temptation to conform his message to please men—but Paul urges him to stand firm, to preach the truth without fear, and to live out his faith with integrity. God designed pastors to prioritize godliness over worldly approval, to reject speculation in favor of Scripture, and to trust in the authority of God’s Word. Let's explore what it means to live and speak boldly for Christ, in a culture that often pushes back.

Still, the enemy seeks to deceive and destroy, using lies to pull us away from abiding in Christ. In our continued study of 1 Timothy 4, we uncover how false teachings—what Paul calls "things taught by demons"—can lead people to abandon their faith. But we are more than conquerors. We can resist deception, abide in Christ, and walk in the freedom of His grace.
