They call this guy “Yeti” and for good reason. Beyond the gruff, bearded exterior lies a larger than life outdoorsman that’s as cool as they come. Zac Yarbrough has an inspiring story to tell. Over the past year or so he’s been in a battle with breast cancer that has put him on a journey of grabbing life by the horns and living it to its fullest. Few people have the drive and the vision necessary to be a true leader in their local community. Even fewer are able to achieve that status by the eighth grade. Meet Mikaela Whitmer and her mother Heather Reinoehl everyone. Currently a sophomore at Nova Southeastern University, Mikaela’s well-known provincial fishing tournament, Trash Can Slam, has been raising tons of money to support Autism aid and awareness efforts to Deerfield Beach schools since its inception. Now she’s ready to tackle the next level by putting on the first ever Sailfish Slam. We invited Mikaela and her mom in to try and get beneath the surface as to what makes her tick. Needless to say we came away very impressed.

Captains extraordinaire George Poveromo & Debbie Hanson stopped by the studio for a glass of Papa’s Pilar and a good ol’ chat about fishing, Florida, clean water and mysterious anomalies that may or may not happen when riding out on the open seas with George. Being one of South Florida’s most respected sportfish captains on the water isn’t easy. Although, Ben Sharpe sure does make it look that way by always keeping a cool and even keel.
