"There was antisemitic speech, there was vandalism, there was violence. This has been going on, obviously, since people have been protesting about the war in Gaza. And it's really spread throughout Europe. It's spread throughout the United States. A lot of people are not on the same feeds I am, probably. And voting is just that sometimes we don't agree with the person we love and we have to go the other direction. But more personal to me is this idea of keeping the conversation alive before, during, and after this election our ability to not be numbed by a particular feeling."

"Some people call America the great experiment. And I love that it's a country that was born from the idea of independence from tyranny and an embrace of freedoms. And during this election cycle, I can't help but think about this phrase with regard to what's going on right now. Experimenting is a really great way of framing any idea. When you execute upon it right, sometimes it moves forward and you have to course correct. It's still the experiment, but you're figuring stuff out."

"Astrolokia gigantea, the brazilian Dutchman's pipe, or giant pelican flower, is an ornamental plant native to Brazil, Costa Rica and Panama. Typical of subtropical bahia and Minas gerais vegetation, it is a vigorous evergreen climber with cordant heart shaped leaves and spectacular, fragrant flowers. So they weren't flowered open yet. They were still closed as pods. But they really freaked me out. I guess it's because they looked so human. They looked like both female and male genitalia, in my opinion."
