Well, I can’t believe it’s nearly Feb and we haven’t released this pod from October. Life can get busy from time to time. All is good in the LOL Universe. We hope all is good with y’all too. Any out of date jokes, I assure you, were as funny as hell back in October.
We’ll try and do another one soon. It’s been too long. Thanks for listening, whoever you are.
Happy Valentines – sit down with your loved one, snuggle up and listen to our sexy nonsense (not sexy at all).
Our Swell Oh Els this week are the wonderful books of Keigo Higashino. The excellent TV Series The Bear on Disney+ (oh and while you’re on there check out the series I wrote 3 episodes for Red Election) Also, treat yourself to the brilliant HBO adaptation of The Last Of Us and then go play the game.

Sorry for the delay between July and this, but as Boris Johnson so eloquently said “Them’s the breaks.”
Both Mark and Paul would like to wish you all a very merry festive season. Here are some inventions, a new feature and some pretty cool recommendations. Catch y’all in 2023.
Swell Oh El’s in this episode are…
Peter Duggal, and his brilliant collaboration with Wolfgang Flur on Magazine 1
The very funny Only Murders In The Building.
Excellent horror film Barbarian, fabulous Tv series The Bear on Disney+ and This Is Only The Beginning by Michael Chessum.
One last plug…check out Red Election on Disney+ three eps of which were written by Paul.
Recorded the day after Boris Johnson resigned, so there’s a sense of giddiness that isn’t wholly down to Wine.
Our Swell Oh Els this week were Merlin the bird recognition app. The new Slow Horses book Bad Actors by Mick Herron and Netflix’s uplifting Bollywood action film RRR

This was recorded mid Feb, before Putin’s disgraceful invasion, which is why there is no mention of current events in the show. Our hearts and solidarity is with Ukraine.
Paul’s radio play The War After The War will be broadcast on Radio 4 at 3pm Saturday March 12th. Starring Sir David Jason and directed by Johnny Vegas, once it has been transmitted it will also be available on BBC Sounds.
Out LOL’s this week were the fantastic and creepy Netflix series Archive 81 the brilliant C4 series Screw and a notable shout out to Yard Act‘s debut album The Overlord.

Ho Ho Ho. We went and did another special, although only you can decide how special it is. Hope you enjoy it, and we wish you a wonderful festive fun time, with big hopes for a fabulous 2022.
Our Swell Oh Els this time were darkly brooding but unmissable The Chestnut Man, the very funny Viz comic and the magnificent Laidlaw books by William McIlvanney. Plus St Augustine’s Centre in Halifax, and please do search for local refugee centres near you – they need your support, which can be done in many ways, not just by donating money.

In which Mark and Paul discuss dreams, who they are, and ponder the underrated state of contentment (oh, and gardening). Mark’s inventions are badly translated film titles. Paul’s Middel Oh El is a psychic conjuring up film titles.
