There are podcast listeners asking for podcast recommendations AND podcasters asking for people to listen to their podcasts BUT they're often not in the same spaces. What if, I thought, we tried to match these two sets of folks. I grew up in the time of the American TV show, The Dating Game and thought it would be fun to use something like this format to match listeners with podcasts/podcasters, with some internet format adjustments.

JJ Ramberg wanted a podcast app that showed her what her friends were listening to but couldn't find one. So she and her brother made one. It has group pages much like Facebook but with podcasts! And there is something special coming soon specifically for indie podcasters. We share this info in this episode but as usual, we also dive into one of JJ's favorite podcast episodes on personal growth. I've been seeing the reviews for Jar of Rebuke posted month after month duringhttps://twitter.com/search?q=podrevdayandsrc=typed_query ( podrevday). I've been curious but so resistant to audio drama. Yes, I love https://twitter.com/girlinspacepod (Girl in Space). But that's 1 in the genre that I liked. Not a high number to say I liked audio fiction. But last month https://twitter.com/SeenNotHeardPod (Seen and Not Heard )penetrated my earbuds and emotional world. I realized that my ambivalence towards audio fiction needed some investigation.

So I loaded up a few episodes of Jar of Rebuke. With my mind open, I pressed play. I think two minutes in to hearing https://twitter.com/casperoliverVO (Casper)'s voice, I stopped what I was doing and headed for the couch. I did something unprecedented: I listened to a podcast withOUT doing anything else.

I sped through season 1 in a couple of days. The reason why I love it SO much are coming in a review on July 8th, our next #podrevday. Yup, I plan my reviews just like https://twitter.com/OracleofDusk (MJ) does, although I do less of them than she does!

As if that wasn't enough, I also adore how community focused Casper was during the June 8th podrevday. They reviewed so many LBGTQ+ podcasts it was amazing. I threatened that they were likely to get a podcast invite and they said they'd be game.

So here we are, Casper and I, chatting about their favorite queer horror podcasts. Which I'm personally going to try out for sure!

Mental Health is a topic that has been on many of our minds these days. The pandemic has put extra strain on our lives that many of us, myself included, were just not prepared to deal with. So when JD said that his theme for this podcast recommendation was mental health I was quietly and deeply happy.

But these are not your typical mental health podcasts. JD calls them "sneaky" episodes because they are not all from podcasts that you'd think of as being in the category of mental health.
