We Discuss: the definition of Intellectual property, different types of IP – copyright, trademark, patent, right of publicity, and trade secrets, copyright comes with creation, ideas are not protected, the expression of an idea is protected, trademarks begin when your product enters commerce, trademarks last as long as they are actively being used, click licenses, when you use something free you are the product, termination rights, template contracts are good for everything and they are good for nothing, contracts are binding by action, artist estate planning, Consanguinity, most museums do not want your art collection, licensing is a penny business and a volume business, Fine Art Print Disclosure laws, Certificate of Authenticity (COA), repatriation of artwork, and Good Faith laws.
