The Baylor Bears football team faces the Kansas Jayhawks this weekend, and quite frankly it doesn't provide the sexiest of match ups to preview. We're talking about MORE stuff than just that though!

• Ian McCaw Unblocked ODB on Twitter!
• TCU fans vandalized the RGIII statue!
• Jason Kirk wrote a hilarious, depressing, and true post!
• We look at Kansas!
• More than just those things!

Hope everyone enjoys the podcast!

Well that was a good amount of fun, wasn’t it? After a day’s delay, Mark and I take to the airwaves once again to recap the Texas Tech game and all the wild events occurring in the Big 12 this past weekend. The Bears soundly defeated Texas Tech on Saturday in a win that has many of the pundits naming Baylor their new #1 team in the country. This is a reality that is, of course, terrifying for many Baylor fans (guys, it’s going to be okay). But we’re not talking about that so much! What exactly are we talking about? I’m glad you asked!

• Taking the foot off the gas
• Some quality defensive play that we’re happy with
• Offensive efficiency
• Corey Coleman: Is he the best WR in Baylor history?
• Shock Linwood’s spectacular game
• There’s more stuff in there
• I can’t remember off the top of my head
• Oh yeah!
• Recapping the Big 12
• Iowa State 38, Kansas 13
• Oklahoma State 36, K-State 34
• The Great Big 12 Officiating Debacle of October 3, 2015*
• Oklahoma 44, West Virginia 24
• TCU 50, Texas 7
• A teensy bit about S&P+, but possibly more to come

*Last week we got called out in the comments to the podcast because we were apparently “whining” about the officiating without acknowledging that it’s a difficult job. We fully recognize that officiating is a thankless and incredibly difficult job. But, like any job, there can be excellence or incompetence performing it. While even the best and most prepared refs can miss calls here and there, what the Big 12 is dealing with is beyond the occasional missed call at this point.

Fun weekend! Even though we recorded on Monday night, we’re still planning on recording the Kansas preview on Wednesday night. Get your questions in now, folks. I’m sure there will be an incredible number of them.

What a week! We’ve got a TON to talk about on this week’s podcast, the final “combined” episode where we’ll both look back at what happened last week and look ahead to what’s coming on Saturday. Rejoice! More podcasts to come! Let’s get to it, shall we?

We’re leading off the show with an announcement. I’m teasing it here because we jump into it immediately.

• The Great Alan Eck Conspiracy of 2015. We’ve cracked it, folks.
• The Rice game, one of the most impressive performances we’ve seen from Baylor Bears football in quite some time
• Best performances of the day which weren’t Corey Coleman (because, c’mon): Taylor Young, Travon Blanchard, Shock Linwood, Shawn Oakman*
• The Oakman sack/holding sequence: Go watch it
• A bit about the TCU/Texas Tech game - but not a ton
• Short, short look at WVU - they’re interesting, but they haven’t played on the road yet (and their road slate is brutal)
• Previewing Texas Tech vs. Baylor
• The Cloak & Dagger Injury Game with Kliff Kingsbury and Pat Mahomes
• Differences between Mahomes and Davis Webb
• An improved Tech rushing attack
• Reduction in the typical Tech Achilles heels (can there be multiple Achilles heels? Whatever, they had them but they don’t this year)
• Explanation of tackling issues from the early portions of the season
• Art Briles gives us a fantastic quote. Just fantastic.
• Picks of the Weeeeeeeeeek

Enjoy!

Thursday means podcast! Mark and I are back in business after a week off due to schedule conflicts and sheer exhaustion. With essentially two weeks worth of news there’s a lot to discuss, but we manage to get through it all and have a good bit of fun doing it. And oh yeah, it’s GAME WEEK again! We’re talking Bears vs. Owls and getting ready for that. Plus, Mark put out a call for questions and got some good ones worthy of discussion, so we’re getting to that.

• Secret Service Call Signs!
• Player dismissals!
• Sidelinegate!
• The next Friday news dump!
• On losing and regaining edges!
• Gary Patterson says silly things!
• You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers!

We’re also getting into the Rice game and the things that we’re looking forward to. We’re both excited for this game because it presents opportunities for improvement and breakout performances. Mark’s keen to see what the defense has cooked up for Saturday and how they respond after a couple of difficult first halves to games thus far. I’m all about that Seth Russell and what we can see from him.
