  • Ep 23: Incorporating Storytelling into your Podcasting

In this episode, we're diving into the captivating world of storytelling and how you can infuse it into your own podcast.

Firstly, we will explore how to start incorporating storytelling into your podcast episodes. Storytelling is a powerful tool that can transform your episodes from informative to unforgettable.

One crucial aspect we'll emphasise is not being afraid to be a storyteller. You might think, "But I'm not a professional storyteller!" Well, let me tell you a secret: we're all storytellers at heart. Whether you're recounting a personal experience or sharing intriguing anecdotes, your unique voice and perspective will captivate your audience.

Next, we'll delve into the importance of connections in storytelling. Stories have an incredible ability to create bonds between you and your listener. We'll explore how to forge that deep connection by infusing emotion, vulnerability, and relatability into your narratives. Get ready to touch hearts and leave a lasting impact on your podcast community!

Lastly, we touch on why it's important to only share stories that you want to share and not share anything that you want to keep personal. Your podcast is your creative space, and it's essential to share stories that genuinely resonate with you and that you're comfortable with telling others.

  • Ep 20: Swearing in Podcasts: Can You Do It?

Today, I want to tackle a question that many of you might have pondered: Can you swear in a podcast? Well, my dear listener, the answer is a resounding yes!

However, before you start throwing expletives left and right, let's take a moment to consider your audience. It's essential to gauge whether or not swearing is appropriate for the listeners you're trying to reach. Different audiences have different sensibilities, and you want to ensure your content resonates with them.

If you're known for your colourful language and your audience expects a bit of profanity, then by all means, go ahead and include it in your podcast. Authenticity is key in building a connection with your listeners, so stay true to yourself and your unique style.

Conversely, don't feel pressured to swear if it's not natural for you. Swearing just for the sake of it might come across as forced or disingenuous. Remember, being authentic is more important than conforming to a particular mold. So, if swearing doesn't align with your personality or style, feel free to express yourself in a manner that feels comfortable and genuine.

When it comes to explicit content, it's crucial to mark your podcast episodes accordingly. By indicating that your show contains explicit content, you're being respectful towards your audience and allowing them to make informed choices about the content they consume. Building trust with your listeners is paramount, and transparency in your episode labels contributes to that trust.

It's worth noting that what constitutes a swear word can be subjective. Different people have different perspectives on what is acceptable or offensive. If you're unsure whether a particular word falls into the "swear" category, it's always safer to mark your content as explicit. It's better to err on the side of caution and provide clarity to your audience.

Remember, podcasting is all about self-expression and engaging with your audience. So, whether you choose to swear or maintain a more restrained approach, let your true voice shine through and create content that resonates with your listeners.
