  • Establishing Your Authority in an Industry Where Podcasting Isn't a Thing with Dawn Lewis
Do you find yourself a little bit obsessed with your business, work or cause but your partner, kids and friends roll their eyes every time you bring it up? Or maybe you're in an industry where there are almost no podcasts in existence - that was exactly the case for professional crafter, Dawn Lewis from The Craft Room Podcast.
Dawn began her podcast as a way to intentionally position herself as an authority in the craft industry, and so she didn't lose her marbles talking to the walls of her office about creativity and craft. Dawn shares the time investment, and the systems she has in place that help her run her show smoothly from taking notes and dot points on a topic, to having a full checklist she works through to ensure consistency.
Dawn shares her best bits of wisdom for new podcasters from the equipment you need, where to find tutorials, and while it gets geeky with Dawn's love of audio technology, you will enjoy her practical chicken-whispering talents!
    About Dawn Lewis
Dawn Lewis is a professional crafter, vlogger and podcaster based on the New South Wales Central Coast of Australia. She has worked in the Australian craft industry for well over a decade, creating projects for craft magazines and brands across a variety of craft mediums. She was host and segment presenter for the Australian papercrafting television show, Scrap It TV, for 5 seasons. Dawn has been a speaker and panelist at The Artful Business Conference. She currently has an online store selling craft supplies, teaches in collaboration with other businesses locally, and recently launched The Craft Room Podcast.

How do you get over yourself to record your first episode, or record anything when emotions are running high?
How do you sound confident like that bloke on smoothe 91.5 radio?

  • How Getting Clear on the Purpose of My Podcast Generates 50% of My Leads
Hands up if at school you were regularly in trouble for talking too much?
Unsurprisingly, it's many Podcasters - because we have a love of verbal and auditory communication (who would have thought, right?) but today's guest took those experiences and mixed them with her more than 26 years of being in business to create a podcast that generates 50% of her leads.
Today we're chatting to Samantha Riley from the Thought Leaders Business Lab Podcast about why she chose to podcast and how it fits into the larger scheme of her business. We look at the challenges and very cool experiences she's had like interviewing JP Sears of Ultra Spiritual and Dr. John De Martini - the challenges she overcame in the early days, and much more.
    About Samantha Riley
Samantha Riley is from the Northern Beaches in Sydney, Australia, and has spent the past 8 years helping people turn their expertise into a thriving business. Everything she teaches is what she's learned through personal experience while building multiple businesses over the past 26 years.
She uses the 3 key principles of positioning, profile and leverage to help people to monetise their expertise, and to become the go-to authority in their industry. Due to her extensive business background, she sees each individual in a unique and holistic way, and is able to help them grow a profitable business to create a life that they love

  • Activism + Podcasting... is it a thing?
There are close to 700,000 active podcasts live on iTunes today and the number increases every week. Some shows are designed to sell coaching programs, promote books or services, others live shows, or merchandise. There isn't anything wrong with that - but here's an idea I'd like to plant: what if your podcast was more than a lead magnet? What if it was your means to enact change around the world? What if... your podcast was a vehicle for activism?
Today we're exploring the impact a podcast can have on a single person and the change it can inspire. Think back - have you ever listened to a podcast episode and it somehow reached right down into your core and resonated? Maybe you had emotional release (read: crying mess at the bottom of the shower), or you were completely inspired by an idea it sparked in you, or maybe it lead to a big change in your life.
Whichever way you dice it, a podcast is an extremely personal and intimate form of content, and we can choose to be leaders and activists.

  • Raise your voice, make some noise
"The songs that stand the test of time, come from the heart." - Dolly Parton
The same thing is true for podcasts - the shows that live long full lives and take us places we didn't think possible, are the shows the come from a big, bold purpose right from our hearts. Sometimes it's to help someone else avoid an experience, or to make others laugh, or share in someone elses brilliance. Either way, we're here to podcast with purpose!
