Our task is to cast seed. We need not know whether it bears fruit, for all things come to pass in God's time.

We need to begin the process of lifelong learning – learning about ourselves, learning more about discipleship, learning about ways we can be the hands and feet of Christ and empowered by the Eucharist and with the grace of the Holy Spirit begin to heal this broken world.

For the Christian, the common good is about incorporating Christ's teachings which flow from our dignity as created in the image of likeness of God.

Sometimes we think sacrifice – to carry our cross – is some great and unreasonable burden. But honestly, that idea is based on our lack of theological imagination. Don’t we hear Jesus tell us how much more generous will our Father be? (Matthew 7:11).

Dads who advocate for human dignity, for justice, and for the common good bear witness to Christ Jesus. These dads walk the path of the discipleship and are an example to their families and friends.

We are a eucharistic people and that has consequences, not only in how I live my life, but also how I relate to those around me and how I participate in civic life. The Eucharist reminds us that black lives matter – that all lives matter – because we are all united into the one body of Christ to the Father.

I suggest to you that experiencing and sharing the love of the Trinity is the best way forward.

"If something is always and everywhere the case, it must be noticed, accepted, and celebrated somewhere sometime. What is always true must be noticed as true at a particular time and in a particular place," (Himes, Loc 219).

We can exercise our gifts in quite ordinary ways, but the impact could be huge. We may never know the impact we have on others – only God knows.

All of us are called to participate in the Church’s effort at evangelization. But there is also a need to support missionaries in foreign lands and here at home both financially and prayerfully.
