Taylor Winfield Haboucha

Taylor Paige Winfield Haboucha is the Founder of RUACH: Emotional and Spiritual Support and a member of the support team. She is a spiritual care intern with experience in corrections, healthcare, and the military environment. She is trained in spiritually-integrated psychotherapy and is extremely passionate about bridging emotional and spiritual care. Taylor is also a PhD Candidate in Sociology at Princeton University.

Rabbi Karen Sussan, LMHC

Karen Sussan is a Support Team Leader with RUACH. She is Rabbi (Reconstructionist), Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Social Worker; Board Certified Chaplain, and a certified Spiritual-Integrated Psychotherapist also authorized as a Spiritually-Integrated Psychotherapy Trainer. With 25+ years of experience in theoverlapping fields, Karen is now in private psychotherapy practice, where client dignity is of the utmost importance. While grounded in solid psychotherapy methods (especially, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, psychoanalytic), she is passionate about client-centered work and sensitive to diverse values, spiritual and religious orientations.

About the Guest

Michael A. Meyer, Ph.D.

Michael A. Meyer was born in Berlin, Germany and grew up in Los Angeles, where he received his B.A. (with highest honors) from UCLA.  His doctorate is from Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati, Ohio.

From 1964 to 1967, he taught at the Los Angeles campus of HUC-JIR.  Since 1967 he has been on the faculty of HUC, Cincinnati, where he is currently the Adolph S. Ochs Professor of Jewish History Emeritus. From 2000 to 2008, he also taught every fourth semester at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and the Jerusalem campus of HUC.

Professor Meyer’s books have won three Jewish Book Awards.  They include The Origins of the Modern Jew:  Jewish Identity and European Culture in Germany, 1749-1824 (1967;  Response to Modernity:  A History of the Reform Movement in Judaism (1988);  Jewish Identity in the Modern World (1990); and a collection of essays entitled Judaism Within Modernity (2001).  Among books he has edited are Ideas of Jewish History (1974); the four-volume German-Jewish History in Modern Times (1996-1998); Volume six of the collected writings of Leo Baeck (2003); and Joachim Prinz, Rebellious Rabbi: An Autobiography–the German and Early American Years (2007). He has published more than two hundred articles and longer reviews. He has also been named a Finalist in the 2020 National Jewish Book Awards in Biography by Jewish Book Council for his book, Rab­bi Leo Baeck: Liv­ing a Reli­gious Imper­a­tive in Trou­bled Times (University of Pennsylvania Press).

Margit (rhymes with target) Novack is an entrepreneur, thought leader in aging and pioneer in Senior Move Management. Margit founded Moving Solutions in 1996. Over the next 25 years, her passion and commitment to serving older adults and their families inspired her team to provide world-class service. Moving Solutions won awards, was featured in national media, and Margit became a sought-after speaker.

Margit is widely recognized as founder of the senior move management industry. She is the Founding President of the National Association of Senior and Specialty Move Managers (NASMM), chaired the NASMM Ethics Commission and developed industry training. NASMM recognized Margit’s commitment and service by creating the Margit Novack Award for Excellence in Senior Move Management.

In 2020, Margit left the formal work world and began a new role as author, speaker, and champion of a re-visioned picture of aging.

Margit grew up in Philadelphia, went to the Philadelphia High School for Girls and has graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives with her husband and three dogs (a retired greyhound racer and two puppy mill rescues), and divides her time between suburban Philadelphia and a home by the water in Maryland, where Margit often kayaks upwind.

Life Review: The Hospice Musical is a new musical celebrating life, love and loss through three seasons at a residential hospice. As he ministers to the patients, Rabbi David learns from his patients even as he cares for them. and their loved ones.

In Life Review: The Hospice Musical, each patient sings their story. We hear from a proud mother remembering snow, a brave but scared young man wondering what's to come, an older man looking for one last friend, and a man of God singing praises.

Rabbi Rifat Sonsino, LLB., Ph.D.

Rabbi Rifat Sonsino is the Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA.

Born in Turkey, he received his law degree from the University of Istanbul (Faculty of Law, 1959), his rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (Cincinnati, 1966) and his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, 1975) in the field of Bible and ancient Near Eastern Studies. In 1991 the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion bestowed upon him a D.D.

Before coming to Needham, Rabbi Sonsino served congregations in Buenos Aires, Philadelphia and Chicago.
