Sherwood Middle supplements a challenging curriculum with a range of behavioral, social, academic, and parent supports.

The curriculum at Sherwood Academic Magnet Middle School is designed so that students not only meet, but exceed, state standards. Students who succeed in the core curriculum may enroll in enrichment courses such as forensics, pre-law, and marine biology.

To keep the focus on instruction, teachers and administrators at Sherwood Academic Magnet Middle School hold regular "eat and meet" lunch breaks to review student progress and plan instruction. All teachers participate in team walkthroughs.

Principal Phyllis Crawford credits her school's success to an ability to "get the right people on the bus." All new hires are first interviewed by teacher teams.
