Welcome to the first episode of PodHER Interviews! Our guests today are the co-founders of @DancersAndMorherhood, an organization promoting inclusivity in the dance world. In this episode, they delve into the realities of motherhood and dance.
Grace Whitworth is a dancer, rehearsal director, stager, and master teacher of FoCo Elements. Xin Ying is a choreographer, educator, and principal dancer with Martha Graham Dance Company, whose work has received the China Lotus Award. Allison DeBona is the Owner and Artistic Director of artÉmotion, and a first soloist with Ballet West. And last but not least, our very own Ingrid Silva has danced with Dance Theatre of Harlem for over a decade and made history in 2020 with her hand-painted pointe shoes exhibited at the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History & Culture.
They share their experiences as moms and ballerinas, including the challenges they face, the lessons they've learned, and self-care tips. You will hear an honest conversation about the challenges and rewards of balancing a demanding career with parenting.
Join us as we listen to these remarkable women share their stories of motherhood and dance. We hope this conversation inspires and enlightens you as it did us.
