Most have died off due to a lot of different reasons. The article is from Amplifi. And they discuss the fact that although 4 million podcasts sounds large, only a small number of them are still in production.

How is your Podcast doing? Do you even have a Podcast? Well not to worry. It all starts with you trying something you've never tried before. On the Kris and Kristine Show back 3 years ago we tried podcasting. With an old HP computer and a few cheap $20 microphones we gave it a shot. After trial and error we found what works best for us. A few upgrades and a few years of confidence later here we are. On this show I play you a sample from our first episode we recorded for The Kris and Kristine Show.  If you are looking for an easy quick way to promote you podcast. Try creating a QR code. QR code (quick response code)  QR code (an initialism for quick response code) is a type of matrix barcode (or two-dimensional barcode) invented in 1994 by the Japanese automotive company Denso Wave. A barcode is a machine-readable optical label that can contain information about the item to which it is attached. In practice, QR codes often contain data for a locator, identifier, or tracker that points to a website or application. QR codes use four standardized encoding modes (numeric, alphanumeric, byte/binary, and kanji) to store data efficiently; extensions may also be used The Quick Response system became popular outside the automotive industry due to its fast readability and greater storage capacity compared to standard UPC barcodes. Applications include product tracking, item identification, time tracking, document management, and general marketing. A QR code consists of black squares arranged in a square grid on a white background, which can be read by an imaging device such as a camera, and processed using Reed–Solomon error correction until the image can be appropriately interpreted. Happy Podcasting! Hope you have a podcast and if you do, congrats on doing something that others won't even try to do. Being a content creator can be tough if you're looking for new ways to create content. If you've been podcasting for any number of years it can start to get sale and boring. I encourage you to try something different with your podcast. Your show is your show. You make the rules and can choose to change whatever you want. And if you do decide to change things, you can always change them back. There are no official rules on how you can create a podcast. 

So on this episode there is an article from the other week saying that certain podcast hosts charge a premium for guests to be on their podcast. How much..? How about $50,000 per appearance. Now these are big shows with big audiences. If your show is fairly new or smaller you are not going to have people willing the pay to be on your show. If fact the truth is that only 3% of your dedicated audience are willing to actually do anything extra for your show, especially paying  for things. So if you have an audience size of 100 people, that means you might have 3 people that do anything.

Today we take a look at IAB certified stats for your podcast. It's hard to get new plays on our shows. The same goes for all of your social media. What is IAB certified podcasting stats and why would you care if you have them? It’s a certified agency that proves the best way they can that each physical play on your podcast is by a different person. So each play counts as one play. The rules - Each play has to have at least one play by one device, playing for at least 1 minute in length. That gives 1 IAB certified play. It’s a more accurate way to count download plays. Mainly to prove to ad sponsorships. They usually pay on a cost per thousand plays. So they want to accuracy when paying for these ads. Just like a work Time Clock. If you get paid by the hour. You clock in on a device to accurately keep track of the time on the job. At the end of the pay period, your supervisor usually has to verify that those hours are correct. Once approved it gets sent off to payroll to send out a paycheck. I'm back from vacation. We took the entire family to Florida to check out Miami and Disney World. It was our big summer vacation that we've been doing the last 3 years. It was so much fun, and hot. The kids haven't ever been and I've only been once as a kid. We all had a fantastic time. What makes a new listener press play on a podcast episode? Well it turns out it's mostly because of the content of the show. Above all else, they come for the content. If you can deliver great content and great sound, then you should be able to get more listeners coming back to your show. It's not easy, but try to make the best show you can.

So glad to be back to Podcasting! Because of my busy schedule and my main studio being taken over by a guest. My recording space has been limited. So today I try something that hasn't ever been done before. Today I record completely remote on the PodTrak P4 and the ATR 2100 microphone. This is as simple as it gets. I take you on a audio tour of my house and show you sample of different locations around the house. So you can hear for yourself what different locations around the house may sound like.

Here on Podtastic Audio I'm here to help you out with your podcast to create decent audio for your show without spending lots and lots of money on gear and stuff you don't even need. The power of good audio can create an illusion to the listener that transports them into another space. The audience doesn't need to know all the details of your podcast gear. As long as it sounds good to theml, they will keep on coming back time and time again. 

In this episode I reference the car culture community. And how you can use performance parts to add more power to your car to make it go much faster. And these parts usually come with decals to place on the side of your ride. To show the world, you have this part, and your car is fast. But some people just put the stickers on the car, without the upgraded parts. To make their car appear its fast. In the car culture, aftermarket performance accessories, all are to gain more horsepower. Whether it’s adding a new exhaust system, turbo, or supercharger. They all add more power to the vehicle. One of the oldest myths about car people is they believe anything can add more power to the car. Including placing performance stickers. As the saying goes. Each sticker can add up to 5 horsepower to your car. How is that even possible? In reality it doesn’t add any kind of performance.

Or does it? By adding a performance decal to your ride might give other cars the illusion that your fast. So then you must be fast.

If you make your show sound good. And make it sound bigger than it really is. Nobody is going to know any difference. The power of audio and theater of the mind. You can be as big as your imagination.

Thank you so much for joining me today. On today's show I share some basic audio tips within Audacity for those who don't want to spend a lot of money of podcast gear. Audacity is a free, easy to use program that works on all major computer operating systems. With a basic USB microphone and a copy of the Audacity program you can create a fantastic sounding podcast. 

On almost every social media platform there are ways to pay to promote your content. On Twitter you can pay to promote a tweet. If you have an episode you're really proud of, you can pay to promote it. The prices will vary based on how long the promotion is going to be. For example if you do a 24 hour promotion it will cost the least and the longer ones cost more. But before you go and spend real money on podcast promotion, you need to get real honest feedback of your show. Someone who isn't' named mom to listen and review it. Honesty is what you need. It's really hard to receive honest feedback on our podcast. You probably spent all sorts of time and energy to create the show, and to hear it's not that great is truly heartbreaking. You can do your show however you want, but I would have someone take a look at it before you pay real money to promote it.
