Episode #035
Tim and Kyle welcome Ross Brand to the Podwrecked Savage Team!
Kyle asked Ross about the process of becoming a livestreamer.
Tim questions Ross about the technology involved in livestream success.
Ross schools them both by opening up a master class (e.g. Livestreaming 101) on both their brains.
Ross goes deep into how podcasters can become livestreamers… if they’re ready.
What did we learn?
LiveStreaming is not something you just jump into.
Podcasters already have most of the gear required to start LiveStreaming.
You need to plan your Livestream the same way you plan a podcast.
It is a good strategy to focus on one livestream platform first.
The biggest mistakes (and how to survive them) that new livestreamers make during a live show.
How to plan what you want to say as your first line and last line during a live show.
Livestreaming is NOT podcasting but shares many of the same pre-production, production, and post-production challenges.
We get into the challenges livestreaming can create for people new to video.
Ross talks about the Logitech c920 as a good starter web camera.
Ross exposes his studio layout, how he got started, and how he grew livestreaming from a hobby into a professional business.
Ross and Kyle have a little fun with the “New World of Sports” with a golf sports announcer outtake!
About Ross Brand
Ross Brand is a pioneer in the livestreaming field as both a prolific content creator and thought leader exploring the different ways to leverage live video to grow your business or brand. Named the World’s #1 Livestreaming Expert to Follow on Social Media by Klout and selected as one of “5 live video experts to follow” by Switcher Studio, Ross made the successful transition from terrestrial radio to livestreaming, founding LivestreamUniverse.com to empower other live video creators by showcasing their content through updates and shows. Ross also runs the LivestreamDeals.com website and creates audio content for podcasts and Alexa Flash Briefings. Find him on Twitter: @iRossBrand. His Instagram username is @RossBrand1.

Quotes
“A big mistake new livestreamers make is thinking they need to remove the microphone from view because you can’t see the microphone on TV. However, livestreaming not TV. Livestreaming is more like radio ON TV, not TV”

Episode #034
We read an article about Podcast Discovery Stats in 2020.
Kyle focuses on how these stats point out the importance of description and episode titles.
Tim focuses on how these stats point out the importance of timing and intro hooks.
What did we learn?
If listeners don’t like the cut of your episode titles they will bounce.
Listeners DO make judgments about your podcast based on its description BEFORE they hit play.
If listeners don’t get hooks within 5 - 15 minutes they will bounce.
Listeners WILL hit STOP and DROP your podcast if you don’t communicate what your show is about in the first few minutes.
Tim talks about National Poetry Writers Month (NaPoWriMo) and how getting out of your comfort zone and writing poetry is good for creativity.
Listen to the very end to hear Tim and Kyle get “The Sillies” and try very hard to recover from them!

Episode #033
Tim talks about his new podcast - Create Art Podcast.
Kyle talks about his new podcast - Not Easily Squished.
Tim describes his new art podcast experiment that explores how sound can be art with Obviously Avant-Garde.
Kyle describes his new audio drama podcast experiment which will be a dark military comedy called Three-Minute Joe.
What did we learn?
YOU are your own gatekeeper and YOU are the only one holding your podcast and podcast experiments back.
Always be creating because the only thing worse than a podcast that doesn’t work is not doing one at all.
Push yourself to become comfortable with being uncomfortable if you want to improve your podcasting skills.
Continuous creation and experimentation are important to your podcast journey.
You need to try new things in podcasting to keep yourself from getting bored or stale.
We go down a brief comic book podcast road when Tim crosses DC with Marvel in a LIVE experiment.
We even get into Veteran Coffee Roasters because we love coffee and know what good coffee tastes like.
Podcast Experiments
Create Art Podcast
Create Art Podcast (CAP), hosted by Gagglepod Co-Founder and Head Instigator Timothy Kimo Brien, is focused on creating more than we consume through conversations on art, interviews with artists, projects to share, and commentary about articles and books on creativity. Creativity is best when it is with friends. Let’s connect and create together!
Not Easily Squished
Not Easily Squished, hosted by Gagglepod Co-Founder and Chief Creative Kyle M. Bondo, explores the real ideas, principles, and work that needs to go into a podcast design that will survive long enough to find an audience. Go beyond just content creation and delivery and learn the long-overlooked skills your need to know before you ever sit down in front of a microphone. Turn your podcast idea into something that is Not Easily Squished!
Obviously Avant-Garde
Timothy Kimo Brien, an accomplished artist with over 20 years of experience in the fine arts and poetry world, is experimenting with audio, sound, voice, and silence to bring you a listening experience unlike any other. Enter the mind of the artist in a podcast that explores the nature of art in an audio-only medium. You might even find it Obviously Avant-Garde! Learn how to listen to art in this new podcast by Tim Brien.
Three Minute Joe
When veterans from an elite military counter-terrorism unit retire and open a coffee shop, they can’t fully espresso their excitement enough! However, just when they think their retirement will be nothing but dark roast and easy days, their long list of enemies decides this is the time to get their revenge and finish these real American heroes off once and for all. Can the owners of Three-Minute Joe fend off a rogue’s gallery of villains while brewing the perfect cappuccino? Find out in this new audio drama dark comedy, written and directed by Kyle M. Bondo.

Episode #031
We welcome Mathew Passy to the show
Mathew drops knowledge on Tim and Kyle the whole show
We go into the details surrounding podcast feed hijacking (i.e. castjacking)
Tim talks about how his new podcast feed for Create Art Podcast on Google Podcasts was castjacked by an Indian company called “HubHopper”
Get a bunch of podcasters together and we start to talk about all sorts of podcasting issues… like Apple Podcasts
Mathew gives us his Podcast Migration Strategy 101 and debunks the myth that podcasts don’t leave their media host (spoiler alert - they do!)
Mathew answers the $10,000 question: Does IAB certification matter when picking a podcast media hosting company?
PSA: Be a good steward of your own show! Check your feeds… and now you know!
What did we learn?
You need to check your podcast feeds at least once a quarter
The only way to protect yourself from castjackers is to know when it’s happened to you
Your podcast media host might not be much help if it happens to you
Not all castjacking events are malicious but all cases do impact your statistics
Castjacking is yet another area of podcasting where even lawyers are not sure what to do just yet

Quotes
“When we create something, we think, ‘Will our customers thank us for this?’ I think it’s important for all of us to be thinking about whatever marketing we’re creating; is it really useful to our customers? Will they thank us for it? I think if you think of things through that lens, it just clarifies what you’re doing in such a simple, elegant way.”
