Poem 11: "TIME" -
If time is a river, why do I find myself swimming against the current?
If time is a storm, why does it hit hard on my face?
If time is a road, why is my run not fast enough?
If time is a person, why art thou not my friend?
Dear time, I proudly adorn you on my wrist each day.
But you're never in my hands.
Tick-tock-Tick. Dhak-dhak, Dhak-dhak.
We talk about killing time, while the time slowly kills us.
Our heartbeats constantly race against the hands of the clock.
We're so hung up about buying time that little do we realize how time gets spent second by second.
Tick-tock-Tick. Dhak-dhak, Dhak-dhak.
Each second inching in closer to the end.
The sands of time slipping away from your hands, leaving you emptier all the while.
The blood in your veins, palpitating to keep you alive, pulsating your life away.
Faster than the blink of an eye, shorter than the span of a breath.
Thumping to the beats of the Circadian rhythm.
Tick-tock-Tick. Dhak-dhak, Dhak-dhak.
Every thing you've ever done in your life,
Every moment you've ever lived in this lifetime,
Has led you here, to this very moment. The present.
This second. This breath. This heartbeat.
Now is what you really have.
Make the moment count to make your life count.
And never forget, you're already running faster than time.
Tick-tock-Tick. Dhak-dhak, Dhak-dhak.
