Polar Opposites

Beyonce's 'Black Is King' visual album has premiered and we finally give our thoughts! Is the film exploitative of African culture? Why is this project dividing so many people? Is it any good?

This week, friend of the show Ukairo (@ukairoukairo) joins me as we discuss Ellen DeGeneres being canceled, white mediocrity (Taylor Swift's Folklore) vs black excellence, corona conspiracies (Herman Cain), & so much more! Be sure to SUBSCRIBE!

Podcasting is HARD! It may seem easy but the life of a creator can be complicated. We record, edit, promote, and deal with other aspects that often get overlooked. On this episode, Steffi (@inn_mho) joins me as we rant about our different experiences as creators. What’s the difference between YouTube and making a podcast? Things aren’t always what they seem. I hope you enjoy this episode as I open up about what it takes to create content.  Feel free to leave the show a rating/review!

This week, I'm opening my vault of unreleased episodes! In this episode Steffi (@inn_mho) and I take a deep dive into the music of Rihanna & Beyonce to see who has the better songs head to head. This episode is a bit of a departure from previous episodes. I thought I would give y'all something rather than nothing as I prep for next week's episode. I hope you enjoy this episode; it was certainly fun to record. Which artist do YOU prefer? Who has the better songs?

This episode is a bit chaotic but it was fun. We discussed our issues with the music industry, who will be our next group of legends and the pop culture moments that defined each song. Hope you enjoy it!

Entanglement is apparently the new cheating! This week we dissect Jada Pinkett Smith's recent episode of Red Table Talk featuring Will Smith. What is the meaning of marriage? If a couple is separated, is it okay to cheat? Why is it problematic to put celebrity couples on a pedestal? My friend D'Andre (@ajayi_) and I get into everything including  materialism, envy, capitalism, and the meaning of life. Listen to the episode & rate the show!

The trailer for Beyonce's 'Black Is King' film has dropped and many Africans are upset! Social media began a dialogue after a Nigerian model accused Beyonce of profiting off of and perpetuating a false narrative about Africa. This week, a friend of the show Ukairo (@ukairoukairo) joins me to discuss appropriation, colonialization, & how Beyonce has started a diaspora war! Are black Americans allowed to connect to their ancestral roots? Are people unfairly criticizing Queen B? Why is everyone so upset?

In the News: Kanye is "running for president."

Contrary to popular belief, being a “model minority” is NOT a compliment. If you think Asians are inherently better at math, rich, or don’t suffer from the same inequality that plagues other racial groups; you're playing into the hands of the stereotype. This week, my friend Steffi (@inn_mho) joins me to debunk the model minority stereotype/myth. Why is this characterization dangerous? What makes someone Asian enough? How does assimilation affect our culture?

"You talk white," "You're not really black," "You're so well-spoken!" These are some common microaggressions people endure on a daily basis. Intentional or not, many people don't realize how microaggressions uphold negative racial stereotypes about marginalized groups in society. In this episode, my friend Bri (@bri_is_here) joins me as we discuss our experience dealing with racial shade...

In the News: We discuss Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben's, & Mrs. Butterworth's undergoing changes to their brands due to racial sensitivity, and the possible erasure of White Jesus.

The Help might be #1 on Netflix but its NOT #1 in our hearts. This week my friend Alexis (@literarylexx) joins me as we discuss fake apologies, Confederate flags, and the plight of the country as we know it. Should Confederate monuments remain standing? Why is there a double standard when it comes to athletes and their opinions? Why do people struggle grappling with the horrible history of this country? Should African-Americans get reparations?

We talk about many things in this episode! Please continue to hold those around you accountable, look in the mirror, and confront the issues you're passionate about!
