- K-Pop group Omega X wins its lawsuit against Spire Entertainment, its abusive management company.

- Rikers Island may not close, even though the whole plan in NYC was to close Rikers to build "smaller" jails in Chinatown and 4 other locations. But now Eric Adams is saying not only is Rikers closing up in the air, he still wants the 4 new jails. Cop city!

- Workers in China lose their jobs and protest. The catch is these jobs are the essential ones.

- Restaurant workers have to pay for training, and many of them get their certificate through Servsafe. The twist? Servsafe uses that money to lobby against minimum wage increases for restaurant workers

- ChatGPT is not racist. Yet.

- Joe Biden signs the Respect for Marriage Act, which sounds like something conservatives would make up to support a "traditional marriage" but it actually protects same-sex marriage and interracial marriage. All it took was Joe Biden's entire life for him to come around on gay people!

- Okinawa is home to 75% of US military bases in Japan, and there are many Okinawans who have protested against the troops for years for leaving military waste in the country, on top of multiple acts of gendered violence. If there's one country where you shouldn't leave trash, it's Japan.

- China has been pushing Google to remove Glory to Hong Kong, a song written during the Hong Kong protests a few years ago. Google, surprisingly, says no!

- Indonesia published a new Criminal Code, and one section provides protections to sexpats (gross). Tourists' marital status won't be checked at hotels, spas, salons, etc. and for them, having sex outside of marriage is not a crime. tfw when you hate sexpats but need the money from tourism.

- VICE published a 45 minute panel with Asian Americans of different ethnicities and political leanings. The panel was on the model minority myth and Stop Asian Hate, and we watched it so you don't have to worry about your blood pressure.

- 2 years ago, NYC launched a $1 million fund for innovative solutions to hate crimes that don't involve the police. The fund was split into many $20k grants, but none of that money has been given out, and no one knows what happened to it. Did someone in NYC cash in a huge Christmas bonus??

- COVID protests in China. If there's any place for mass change, it has to be the country with the most amount of people.

- Joe Biden goes from "Union Joe" to "Anti-Union Joe" as he tries to shut down the railroad worker strike and force them to accept a shitty bargain. So not "We did it, Joe"

- Very important Senate election going on in Georgia today (Raphael Warnock vs. Herschel Walker), and Asian voters may make the difference between a progressive (at least on paper) and a Trump clone. Go vote!

- Mitch McConnell, Republican Senate Leader and rare white guy who doesn't constantly talk about his Asian wife, nevertheless votes against interracial marriage in a new Senate bill.
