Fighting their way out of the burning village of Vogler, the party manage to narrowly escape the Red Dragon Army’s advances.  On the Vingaard river they find welcome respite as they, along with Vogler’s fleeing citizens, sail east to the great walled city of Kalaman.  Here they hope to not only find safety for the hundreds of displaced villagers but Solamnia and all of its allies must be warned of what approaches.

Our heroes return to Vogler with the terrifying discovery of the massive Red Dragon Army on the outskirts of the village.  They help gather the townspeople and ready all the ships, ferries, and anything that will float to prepare to evacuate down river to the city of Kalaman.  As they’re finishing preparations, time runs out.  The army is here and Vogler is under attack.

This is our 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons campaign: SHADOW OF THE DRAGON QUEEN. Taking place in the Dragonlance campaign setting.

The reenactment did not go as intended.  Many of Cudgel’s Ironclad regiment, led by a half-ogre named Gragonis, drew real steel and turned on their comrades and the villagers alike.  Despite the carnage, the party managed to bring down the half-ogre and most of his fellow deserters.  Questioning a prisoner, they learned Gragonis was paid off by someone to betray and kill Cudgel and use the regiment to take Vogler.  As a favor to the mayor and all of Vogler, our heroes escort Cudgel back to her camp to the north so they can investigate what exactly is going on.

With Ispin’s funeral over with, our heroes decide to take in the activities of Vogler’s annual Kingfisher Festival.  After starting off the day with an unbelievable showing at the fishing tournament, the stage is set for the afternoon’s entertainment, a reenactment of the fated battle between the Solamnian locals and the Istarian invaders that was the catalyst of Vogler’s formation many years ago.

On the road to the small town of Vogler to attend the funeral of Ispin Greenshield, an attack by some evil Dragon-like humanoids brought our 6 heroes together. Once in Vogler the group met up with Ispin’s good friend Beckland Veharin, a Knight of the Crown. The reception was to be held that night at the tavern known as the Brass Crab, on this, the eve of the town’s annual King-fisher Festival.
