This episode, we revisit how we have to actively and continuously work to be good humans - even if we have to get into some “necessary trouble” along the way. Join Bobbi Beale and Maurie Lung as we chat about pride month, try to make sense of recent events, and share how we find new ways to buffer the impact of our current social climate and what we do to keep going in our every day.
Bobbi Beale, PsyD, and Maurie Lung, PhD, continue their outlaw adventures with guest speaker, Troy Wilkerson. Troy lives in Little Rock, Arkansas and works at Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp. Troy believes that, “Social Justice Work is uncomfortable, emotionally demanding, and challenging. I also know that staying comfortable often leaves you no room to grow and makes you more susceptible to complacency. Treating the symptoms is a part of the process, but problems are only resolved when the underlining issue has ceased. A challenge is also an opportunity to learn, improve, engage, and reflect. I’m committed to ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling lives.” Listen in as we chat about how exhausted we all are from living in this world as a targeted marginalized person as well as exploring how to mitigate this impact and how to find respite - especially through experiencing nature, finding places of belonging, and connecting with friends and family.
It sure has been a little while since we have pondered about our life adventures. And gosh, have we had some adventures! Join Dr. Bobbi Beale and Dr. Maurie Lung as we launch season three with a new title and a new focus while still candidly sharing about our lives and tips to navigate this alarming world that we now find ourselves in.
