In this episode of my GOTTA POP podcast, I was joined by John Beaudin of ROCK HISTORY MUSIC and we discussed two legendary bands: Toto and April Wine.

Our original plan was to focus on three albums for each band. For Toto, the albums were supposed to be limited to TOTO, IV, and THE SEVENTH ONE. For April Wine, the three albums were supposed to be limited to STAND BACK, THE WHOLE WORLD'S GOIN' CRAZY, and NATURE OF THE BEAST.

While we did talk a lot about those albums, we also discussed a LOT of other wonderful music by each of the bands. If you're a Toto fan or an April Wine fan (or both!), you'll probably hear us here discussing a lot of music you love!

In this episode, I interviewed Doug Momary and Emily 'Emmy Jo' Peden, the stars of the classic children's television series THE NEW ZOO REVUE.

Close to 200 episodes of the series were produced in the 1970s and they continued to air on television in syndication for many years afterward. The series has recently experienced a new wave of popularity due to several of its episodes being readily available on YouTube and Amazon.

THE NEW ZOO REVUE was a favorite of mine when I was a child and I had a wonderful time learning more about it here from Doug and Emmy Jo. It was also fun chatting with them about their current activities, which have included their recent appearances at conventions and their active participation in the multiple social media platforms devoted to THE NEW ZOO REVUE. In this episode, I'm joined by writer and podcaster Kerry Purvis. Our topics were the legendary band The Bee Gees and the classic television series 'Barney Miller.'

For The Bee Gees segment, we took a look at their amazingly long and impressive career and discussed how each of us loves a lot of the group's great lesser-known music , such as their final two studio albums: 'Still Waters' from 1997 and 'This Is Where I Came In' from 2001.

We also, of course, talked about several of their legendary hit songs that we love from the 1960s and 1970s.

Kerry and I then discussed the classic television sitcom 'Barney Miller,' which ran for 8 seasons on the ABC television network, between 1975-1982. The series has recently seen a resurgence in popularity (especially with younger viewers who weren't around during its original run), due to it airing on television platforms such as Amazon Prime and Tubi.

Then we discussed the classic 1991 action film 'Point Break,' which starred Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze. Eric has written several articles about the movie and is also planning a book about it - so he definitely knows a lot of cool things about 'Point Break!'


We then chatted about National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), which we're both currently participating in. This led to a fun discussion about fiction writing and some of the different ways it can be approached and accomplished.
