Popcorn and Hemlock

GOLDEN GLOBE noms are what we're talking about in this week's episode - the snubs, the shocks, and what the heck a "Comedy/Musical" is according to the HFPA. We give our predictions of who's going to take home the statue in every major category and roll out some wild speculation about why these noms are the way they are. This episode is entirely SPOILER-FREE, so listen in even if you're still catching up on films! We also give some suggestions about what to Netflix if you have free time over the holidays.

We give both a SPOLER-FREE and a SPOLER-FILLED review of Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave' in this week's episode. Spoiler-free is first!

We also discuss the different types of insufferable jerks you find at film Q&As, including such classics as The IRRATIONAL ANGRY! The HIPSTER FILM STUDENT! The BIGGEST FAN! And MORE!

A discussion of Ender's Game (POLYGONS!), a brief Oscar roundup (THROWIN LOBSTERS!), and a review of Dallas Buyers Club (RETURN OF THE COWBOY HAT!) are all coming your way in this week's episode!

We recap the New York Film Festival (Captain Phillips! Claire Denis! Tom Hiddleston as a vamp! Scarlett Johansson as a disembodied voice! SUCH MOVIES!). We also discuss new Fall TV and what to watch (or, um, is there anything to watch?). Finally, we end this week's episode with some OSCAR GRIEVANCES! The worst things to ever happen in awards ever don't even talk to us about it we're still bitter ugh stop it hurts.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt's DON JON kicks off our very first episode of Popcorn and Hemlock. We have a lot to say about it (SWIFFA!). We also discuss our most anticipated movie of award season 2014 and give some ridiculously early Oscar predictions.
