On this week's episode, Jon reviews Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The LEGO Ninjago Movie, and Friend Request, then covers the possibilities to make social media scary on film (besides cheap paranormal monsters).
This week's episode brings back the SUPER MEGA AWESOME MOVIE REVIEW MADNESS! While American Assassin and mother! were the only films to come out in theaters, Jon catches up on some of the things he's missed this year: The Case for Christ; Everything, Everything; Gifted; Colossal; and Trainspotting 1 and 2. Plus a quick Netflix and Chat about Daredevil Season 2 and how certain kinds of fans can ruin a movie.
On this week's episode, Jon has a full slate again. First, the long awaited part 1 of 2 adaptation of Stephen King's It, the insanely nepotistic Reese Witherspoon romcom Home Again, and Charlie Sheen's 9/11 (nuff said). Plus, a discussion on nepotism in Hollywood and how not every famous person's kid should get flack for it.
This Labor Day episode is a grab bag of things cobbled together after the lack of new releases. First, a review of Close Encounters of the Third Kind as it was released for its 40th anniversary, a Netflix and Chat about Jessica Jones, and then two discussion points: the suggestion for Hollywood to make fewer movies and a rant about the death of S. J. Harris on the set of Deadpool 2.
On this week's episode, Jon wasn't able to see Birth of the Dragon, so instead he reviewed the butchered version of 2016's Ballerina Leap!, the latest from Taylor Sheridan Wind River, and a quick Netflix and Chat about the Ducktales reboot and Jessica Jones. Plus, a vent a Harvey Weinstein, a look back at Jon's attempts at screenwriting, and how he envisions the ideal movie producer.
On this episode, Jon reviews Soderbergh's poor man's Ocean's Eleven Logan Lucky and the Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson buddy action comedy The Hitman's Bodyguard. Then, Jon reveals his hopes for Stephen Soderbergh's attempt to take more creative control from the studio system in Hollywood.
On this episode, Jon reviews the Conjuring prequel Annabelle: Creation, the mind numbing The Nut Job 2: Nutty By Nature, and the touching biopic The Glass Castle, and in lieu of repeating topics, the discussion is about 2017 in film in comparison to the previous 5 years Jon has reviewed films.
This week, Jon reviews the long anticipated adaptation of The Dark Tower, does his best to tackle the complex issues around Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit, and rounds it off with the Taken knockoff Kidnap and a Netflix and Chat about Adam Ruins Everything. Plus, a discussion on Jon's ever evolving view of film adaptation and a peak back to a younger Popcorn Junkie.
After reviewing Spider-Man: Homecoming and The Beguiled, and a quick Netflix and Chat about Castlevania, Okja, and The Amazing World of Gumball Season 5, Jon goes on a rant about how Hollywood executives are keeping us from having nice things.
On this Independence Day weekend, Jon reviews four theatrical releases (Despicable Me 3, Baby Driver, The House, and The Book of Henry), has a Netflix and Chat about The Amazing World of Gumball, and talks about the effects Judd Apatow and improv comedy has had on comedies in Hollywood.
