CHAPTER 4. RESETTING YOUR THINKING PRESENTATION: UNMASKING THE ENEMY AND THE BATTLE GROUND.
Luke 14:31. Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men, the one coming against him with twenty thousand? 32 And if he is unable, he will send a delegation, while the other king is still far off, to ask for terms of peace.
The main reason many Christians today appear defeated in their walk of faith is their lack of clear, revelatory insight into the spiritual realities of battle at play, especially in terms of the manipulation of their thought system.
In spiritual warfare, we frequently fail to recognize the intricately designed and well-planned schemes and strategies of the enemy, leading to significant setbacks in our battles, particularly when it comes to mental and psychological struggles.
The age-old struggle for dominance over our thoughts has been part of human history since the beginning of time, tracing all the way back to the Garden of Eden, where the cunning serpent's manipulative tactics distorted Eve's perception and ultimately led to the downfall of humanity.
This was no mere physical struggle, but a subtle, psychological battle, one that highlights the powerful influence of thoughts and the importance of discerning between truth and deception.
Even a powerful king, with all his resources, may enter a war confident of victory, but if he underestimates his adversary or misjudges the strength of his opposition, his power may quickly turn to defeat.
Similarly, if we lack a true understanding of our soul’s nature—of the persistent, unyielding impulses of the flesh—we misjudge the power of the carnal mind and its relentless capacity to undermine our spiritual progress.
It is a common struggle for our fellow Christian brethren to experience defeat in their mental battles, often due to a lack of knowledge and an underestimation of the strategy and manipulative tactics of their unregenerate mindset.
Many individuals often believe their sheer determination and willpower is sufficient to overcome any negative thoughts. However, the human mind is a complex and cunning opponent, constantly evolving and ready to counter any attempts that may jeopardize its control.
The unrenewed mind, which clings to old ways of thinking, perceives any attempt to capture and transform thoughts as a direct threat to its authority.
In response, it deploys its most sophisticated strategies, using doubt, fear, distraction, depression, and discouragement to sap our spiritual resolve.
Taking on the challenge of confronting and conquering an unregenerate thought life is like entering into a spiritual battle that demands complete readiness, unshakeable determination, and the fortification of divine knowledge, understanding, and wisdom.
It is crucial to comprehend that the battleground of the mind cannot be conquered through passive, religious endeavors or half-hearted commitments.
