Samina Zubairi, my beautiful wife left this earth to join her Creator on September 8, 2022 after a brief but brave battle with cancer. We were a husband and wife team with over 13 years of experience working in social services and community development.
The process of grief is hard and there is no way around it, we must go through it. As I continue on this journey, verbalizing my thoughts through creativity can bring comfort and solace but most importantly, acceptance.
I wrote the 'Oppressed Mind' in an attempt to highlight how negative self talk can be overwhelming and how self -expression can help challenge the narrative through empowerment and acceptance.
I hope you you enjoy and if you liked what you heard, feel free to follow the podcast :)

We fit in by letting go of our personality traits.....we belong by owning them. This podcast explores the social construct of identity and roles and its impact on our mental health.
On this episode, we explore how to stop worrying about the things we cannot control and start caring about the things that we value. Worry is leading with fear thinking about something that has yet to happen. Caring is staying true to what you value. It is about investing in yourself. This podcast will share tips around worrying less and caring more!
For our second episode, we discuss politics and mental health. As the Federal Canadian Election is taking place on Sept 20, 2021, for many racialized and underrepresented communities, the political landscape in Canada can cause a level of anxiety due to the uncertainty of who will represent our best interest.
Join Nadir Rahman and I as we discuss how voting, party affiliation, and policies impact our mental wellness.
In the very first episode, we discuss the relationship with our mental health and faith. There is a notion that we are weak if we feel emotionally distressed. The nature of this world is that it presents its inhabitants with temporary ease and temporary hardships. The blessings of Allah also comes with His test. This episode discusses how to acknowledge strong emotions during challenging moments in our life.
