Title: "What Legacy Will You Leave Behind?"
Scripture: Hebrews 5:7-9
4 Perspectives to Learn From Jesus:
1. Jesus' view of God
Matt. 25:14-30
God give us each what we need to serve Him (vs.15)
Sometimes we compare ourselves with others and think God short-changed us. But
God has given us what He knows we need to serve Him.
Vs. 19-23 - these people were grateful for what God had given them.
Vs. 24 - He wasn't grateful
How we view God affects how we live
Gen. 3:1-5 - Satan's first lie is about the character of God; to get us to question
God. Satan doesn't want us to experience life with God.
2. Jesus' view of suffering
Matt. 26:36-42
Jesus doesn't make excuses not to obey; His opinions/complaints weren't so loud that
He couldn't hear God.
Is my rebellion making me deaf towards God?
We live among so much evil but so did Jesus and He still trusted God!
Trust is a fruit of a relationship where you know you are loved.
Acts 14:22 - many hardships to get into heaven - this doesn't mean God doesn't
love us.
3. Jesus' view of eternity
Matt. 25:31-34
Need to keep eternity on our minds like Jesus did.
Do we enjoy Jesus while we're here on earth?
Can't get caught up with what we're dealing with in the moment - it's temporary!
1 Peter 3:15 - what's my hope?
4. Jesus' view of those in need
Matt. 9:12 - do we admit we're sick?!?
Do we avoid sick people? Do we help those with grief or Non-Christian spouses or
young Christians?
How do you view those in need? As a distraction, inconvenience, or someone to
serve ?!?
