Last week, we looked at the Book of
Galatians briefly in our introduction to our new sermon series. The goal of this series is for Christ- followers to truly
understand what they have been given in Christ.
Today, we will dive into the first part of Galatians 1. We will see a terse introduction before Paul gets right to business
explaining the purpose of his Letter. May we not miss the truth of Galatians 1:6-7 as we move through the Text: 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.
Our message for today is titled: “No Other Gospel”
Our points will be:
Paul’s Defense
A gospel that’s No Gospel
Transformation from a Man Pleaser to a Servant of Christ
Main Scripture: Galatians 1:1-10
Supporting Texts: Acts 9:3-5, Acts 9:15, Galatians 2:21, Hebrews 7:27, 1 Corinthians 10:31, Acts 17:11, 1 Timothy 5:19-20,
2 John 10-11, 1 John 2:4, Matthew 6:24
Diving Deeper. After listening to today's message, consider asking yourself the following questions:
How does Paul’s defense differ from how we often defend ourselves when people question us?
Where does Paul keep the focus in his defense?
Why were the Galatian believers so quick to desert the Gospel of Christ alone?
Why do people today desert the Gospel of Christ alone?
Why are followers of Christ enamored with what other people think of them?
